“1. INDIGENOUS CONCEPTS ($33,000.00) - In these challenging times we are doing our best to cope with the pandemic era, But the work continues and diversifies although with limited public gatherings and strict quarantines across the Dineh Nation. Our kitchen will used for youth and community enrichment and learning center from time to time. The Kitchen project is constructed by youth for hands on learning. We will be using this space to teach the youth about butchering animals and other wild food processing site for them on the Navajo nation, this program will also re-introduce old foodways back to the youth. Sharing traditional knowledge and story telling is why oral traditions helps them learn about themselves and the history of our culture. It is a hands on project site where we nurture skill building and hands on experiences. Over the past two years ICC has been able to teach herbal remedies and vitamins to help with Covid- 19 prevention to communities, delivering of cleaning supplies and masks, with our service area being 2,700 square miles. We are able to assist schools to create their farm to table model of students and parents learning to grow their own food. LEARNING KITCHEN UNDER CONSTRUCTION- JAN 2022 This will be a site to host a future gear library for outdoor education sponsored by OEN Outdoor Empowerment Network which has sponsored camping with youth and various forms of wilderness education. Here is a link to their promo film We will be traveling to New Mexico and Colorado for the spring break to visit hot springs site, studying and observing land formations, lava flows. On this trip we will be doing plant education. ICC is also in partnership with Community Outreach Patient Empowerment (COPE) which is a health education program based in New Mexico promoting health awareness for early childhood education for age group 3-5 year olds with parent on benefits of drinking water and traditional language teaching. Ongoing meetings and student/parent trainings are ramping up as we anticipate the end of the pandemic. We have created one specific media tool which you can view here at this link: Water is K'e'- an ICC produced promo video https://vimeo.com/XXX-XX-XXXX MEDICINE MAKING WORKSHOP USING LOCAL PLANTS FOR DISEASE PREVENTION BUDGET: Building materials 14,000.00 Covid supplies 7,000.00 Gas/transporting of supplies 7,000.00 Communications/phone 3,000.00 Total 31,000.00. // 2. THE WOMEN OF COLOR IN LEADERSHIP MOVEMENT ($14,000.00) - Women of Color in Leadership Movement (WCLM), was founded in 2015 and became sponsored by Media Island in 2016, within that short time we were able to accomplish much of our goals for the year that helped us build our foundational roots. We have been able to have monthly support group meetings, and support one another with shared resources, ideas, fundraising, training and organizing. WCLM has participated in various cultural events that support our communities, such as our local activists and their events. Our newly developed partnerships connect with both local and international organizations that focus on women of color and their empowerment and leadership. We have participated in workshops, cultural festivals, trainings and lectures, and have been able to send some of our members to these events. We have been able to support our members in leading their own workshops and presentations as well as supported them in their cultural artistic efforts. We have also been able to offer some support to students of the Evergreen State College, who were affected by the current racial tensions on campus, and in the community of Olympia. Our future goal is to bring more guest speakers such as bell hooks, Tim Wise, spokesperson and activist on racial issues, as well as women from our local Native tribes. These speakers would be able to address many of the issues around race, class, and gender, as well as the effects of colonization on Black and Brown peoples. We also hope to send a group of the women”
