“The coalition has the following two (2) classes of members: voting members - any individual or organization may become a voting member of the coalition upon their agreement to support the mission and values of the coalition and payment of any dues and assessments as determined by the board. - affiliates - any individual or organization that wishes to support the coalition without becoming a voting member may become a non-voting coalition affiliate upon payment of any dues and assessments as determined by the board.”
“Members have the right to vote on board candidates annually. The board has the right to elect candidates to any unfilled positions between annual membership elections.”
“Members have the right to vote on board candidates, changes to the by-laws, and certain other major organizational decisions.”
“Members of the board of directors receive copies of the irs 990 for review, comment, and approval prior to filing.”
“Annually board members are required to report any conflicts of interest. This occurs at the board's annual meeting.”
“The board utilizes formal and informal salary surveys to determine the salary for the executive directors. The salary is reviewed annually by the board during the budget process. The board adopted an executive compensation policy to further describe the process for reviewing and determining the salary of the executive directors.”
“The coalition has no other compensated officers. The executive directors are responsible for setting the salaries of other staff positions, considering formal and informal salaries, the coalition's equity goals, input from the board, and agency budget constraints. These salaries are reviewed annually by the board during the budget process, and are ultimately contingent upon the board's approval of the overall budget.”
“All organizational documents and financial statements are available to the public upon proper request.”
“Improving funding & public policy this year, the coalition mobilized our community of advocates, survivors, partner organizations, and community members on behalf of gender-based violence programs and the survivors who rely on their support and services. Secured 250k in funding from the city of seattle towards gender-based violence support for survivors who are part of the deaf and hard of hearing community. Secured 250k in funding from the city of seattle towards culturally specific services for latinx survivors of gender-based violence. Mobilized over 55 programs and individuals against legislation proposed by the city council of seattle that would reinstate the previously repealed "prostitution loitering" law and establish a new "stay out of area prostitution" (soap) zone out of concern that the bill would criminalize victims and survivors of gender-based violence and create barriers to much needed services and support. Advocated for increased funding to support survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and a fair and open procurement process resulting in 1.7m in new and ongoing funding for fy 2025 in the city of seattle. Supported the efforts of coalition partners in advocating for consistent inflation adjustments in city of seattle contracts and continued progress in closing the pay penalty and wage gap experienced by the human service sector resulting in a 2% wage equity increase for all city of seattle contracts. Secured 2.2 million for gender-based violence services in the king county budget supporting lifesaving services such as community advocacy, crisis intervention, medical and legal advocacy, shelter, and safety planning. Connecting within and across disciplines survivors of sexual and domestic violence need both service providers and larger community to be coordinated to respond collaboratively to violence and address the gender, racial, and economic disparities that drive violence and abuse. Some of our collective efforts towards our vision of safe and just communities in 2024 included: the monthly family law work group continued to serve a critical role of being the main conduit for information flow between the court, gbv advocates, and attorneys. This group provides peer review and consultation as well as referrals and guidance for attorneys and advocates who are working with ipv survivors and their children. In collaboration with the king county prosecutor's office, we hosted an in-person advocate gathering with 80+ attendees to give community based and systems-based advocates more opportunities to connect, network, and provide cross-training opportunities around topics like support groups and domestic violence protection orders. For domestic violence awareness month, we co-hosted an event with the ywca, kcpao, washington office of public defense and partnered with member organizations and local businesses to hold an all-day event attended by 100+ individuals to lift up options for healing and justice for survivors. We began a new iteration of partnership between gender-based violence organizations and homeless housing systems through monthly gbv/homelessness collaborative meetings, in partnership with king county regional homelessness authority and city of seattle mayor's office on domestic violence and sexual assault. We partnered with the king county regional homelessness authority and city of seattle modvsa to host the first in-person gender based violence housing and homelessness collaborative gathering to highlight the intersections of gbv and homelessness, highlighting barriers, and brainstorming systemic solutions. This convening was attended by 75+ individuals across gbv, homelessness systems, as well as adjacent systems like mental and substance use. We continued significant coordination with other regional human service groups, including the seattle human services coalition, the king county alliance for human services, and the seattle/king county coalition on homelessness specifically in mobiliza”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | IMPROVING FUNDING & PUBLIC POLICY THIS YEAR, THE COALITION MOBILIZED OUR COMMUNITY OF ADVOCATES, SURVIVORS, PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON BEHALF OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE PROGRAMS AND THE SURVIVORS WHO RELY ON THEIR SUPPORT AND SERVICES. WE CONTINUED SIGNIFICANT COORDINATION WITH OTHER REGIONAL HUMAN SERVICE GROUPS, INCLUDING THE SEATTLE HUMAN SERVICES COALITION, THE KING COUNTY ALLIANCE FOR HUMAN SERVICES, AND THE SEATTLE/KING COUNTY COALITION ON HOMELESSNESS SPECIFICALLY IN MOBILIZA |
