Activity 2

Working with familiesccr has direct contact with families of all income levels and works with all types of child care providers. A strong partner with non-profits, government and businesses, it raises awareness about early learning, promotes best practices and advocates for increased investments to insure quality. Ccr empowers families to make the best possible choices for their children's care. It was the first of its kind in the usa to offer families a comprehensive online searchable database of licensed child care centers and family child care programs. In 2011, ccr fielded 5,100+ calls (56% low or very low income families/48% single parents.) ccr helps homeless and low income families secure child care subsidies and affordable care. Ccr worked with 544 homeless families to find care for 1,192 homeless children in 2011. Ccr offers services in many languages; helps families find culturally relevant care; assists families that need weekend or after-hours care, or care for children with special needs as well as afterschool care.

Activity 3

Working with child care providers and capacity buildingresearch confirms that for every $1 invested in quality early learning for all children, $7 or more is saved in costs for remedial learning, teen pregnancy, incarceration and rehabilitation. As a result, we see more graduates, sustained employment and more stable communities. With a network of 2,200 providers, ccr helps caregivers and providers create environments to nurture and inspire children. We offer training, mentoring, professional development opportunities, technical expertise, scholarships, books, materials and curriculum to meet licensing requirements; start a program; maintain and improve quality, and earn national accreditation. In 2011, ccr provided 12,800 hours of coaching and technical assistance, and held 357 trainings for 2640 caregivers and providers to improve the quality of care they provide to families.
