Catholic charities of the diocese of yakima is a non-profit organization, located in yakima, washington, with various related entities located in central washington. Catholic charities provides services to those in need primarily in the areas of children's services and welfare, counseling, elder services, a food bank and thrift stores.

Motivated by christ's love, we bring hope to life, especially for those most in need.

The executive committee consists of the officers of the board. The executive committee has and exercises all of the authority of the board of trustees in the management of the organization, except as otherwise fixed by the by-laws or law.

Catholic charities is a membership corporation with two classes of members: the bishop of the catholic diocese of yakima is the sole class a member. The class b members include the vicar general of the catholic diocese of yakima and three lay persons. These two classes of members exercise specific reserved powers which are defined in the articles and bylaws of catholic charities.

Members have sole and exclusive authority to adopt the articles of incorporation and approve bylaws, to adopt any change to the purpose of the organization, to authorize capital expenditures, to elect and remove the president and ceo and any member of the board of trustees, to grant approval of significant transactions, and to determine the distribution of assets upon termination.

The catholic charities board of trustees has a conflict of interest policy. The latest policy was presented in june at a meeting of the trustees. To ensure understanding and compliance with the conflict of interest policy, each trustee is required to read and agree to sign the following: code of conduct/conflict of interest policy. Each trustee shall complete the annual conflict of interest statement (1) upon entry onto the board of trustees (2) whenever a conflict arises or is suspected and (3) annually while a trustee is serving catholic charities. Key management are also required to sign annually.

The compensation committee reviews and establishes key management salaries. The president and ceo's compensation is based on a salary survey and/or data from a consulting firm. This information was given to the executive committee of the board and is used to establish the president and ceo's salary. The board of trustees performs ceo review of the president and ceo and sets the salary compensation. The president & ceo's salary was reviewed in 2020. The president and ceo will consult with the hr director and/or consultant or other independent party to conduct/provide a salary survey, and may review other agencys' form 990s and other relevant data for all members of the executive team, which becomes the basis of determination for their salaries.the board of trustees or a committee thereof performs a review and approves the salary compensation.

PART V, LINE 4:

This fund will benefit programs for children and families throughout central washington which, ultimately, reduce the impact of poverty on individual lives specifically by helping to: nurture children, strengthen families, empower them to enhance the quality of their own lives, and move them toward self-sufficiency.

PART X, LINE 2:

Under provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, catholic charities is exempt from federal income taxes, except for net income from unrelated business activities. As of june 30, 2020 and 2019, catholic charities had no unrelated business activities subject to federal income taxes. Management evaluated catholic charities' tax positions and concluded that catholic charities had taken no significant uncertain tax positions that require adjustments to the financial statements to comply with provisions of topic 740 of the accounting standards codification. Catholic charities' tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal authorities.

THE PROGRAM ASSISTS PARENTS IN REGAINING CONTROL OF THEIR PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILD AND FOCUSING ATTENTION ON POSITIVE BEHAVIOR. THERAPEUTIC CLASSROOMS WITH INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDE AN OPTION FOR CHILDREN WITH SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, OR BEHAVIORAL ISSUES TO PREPARE THEM FOR SUCCESS IN KINDERGARTEN.CRISIS MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES - PROVIDES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES AND MOBILE CRISIS OUTREACH TO CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULTS EXPERIENCING A CRISES EPISODE. CRISIS SERVICES WORKS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS ON DETERMINING THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE LEVEL OF CARE TO RESOLVE A CRITICAL EVENT. THESE SERVICE ARE AVAILABLE 24 HOURS A DAY FOR CRISIS SITUATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY JAILS, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES, HOSPITALS AND HOMES. JAIL SERVICES - THE JAIL SERVICES PROGRAM ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE CURRENTLY INCARCERATED WITH THE GOAL OF REDUCING INAPPROPRIATE INCARCERATIONS AND DECREASING RECIDIVISM IN THE ADULT AND JUVENILE LEGAL SYSTEMS. THIS PROGRAM BRINGS TOGETHER LAW ENFORCEMENT, THE COURTS, MENTAL HEALTH STAFF, PATIENT ADVOCATES, AND OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MENTALLY ILL INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE IN JAIL. THE TRUEBLOOD DIVERSION PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS (THOSE WITH DISABILITIES WAITING IN JAIL FOR COURT ORDERED COMPETENCY SERVICES) SPEND INCARCERATED. PACT - ASSISTS CHRONICALLY MENTALLY ILL INDIVIDUALS THROUGH A MODEL THAT OFFERS INTENSIVE INTERVENTIONS DESIGNED TO REDUCE HOSPITALIZATIONS AND SUPPORT REHABILITATION AND RECOVERY.SUPPORTIVE HOUSING AND RELATED SERVICES - PROVIDES SERVICES AND OTHER SUPPORT TO ALLOW COVERED PERSONS TO RESIDE IN AN INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY SETTING IN AN EFFORT TO MAINTAIN THE COVERED PERSON'S HEALTH AND WELFARE. THROUGH THE AGENCY'S PATH PROGRAM, A PROJECT FOR ASSISTANCE IN TRANSITION FROM HOMELESSNESS, A BROAD RANGE OF SERVICES ACROSS THE CONTINUUM OF CARE ARE PROVIDED TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS. APPLIED BEHAVIORAL ANALYSIS (ABA) - PROVIDING INTENSIVE THERAPEUTIC SERVICES FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER TO INCREASE ACADEMIC AND COGNITIVE SKILLS AND IMPROVE THEIR ABILITY TO TRANSITION SUCCESSFULLY. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE PARENT TRAINING SESSIONS, SPEECH THERAPY, AND INTENSIVE ONE-ON-ONE WORK WITH A BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST THREE HOURS A DAY FOR 12 WEEKS. WRAPAROUND WITH INTENSIVE SERVICES (WISE)- IS A PROGRAM TO HELP MEDICAID ELIGIBLE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH INTENSIVE BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE. PROVIDING INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES IN A LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT BASED ON THE INDIVIDUALIZED NEED OF THE CHILD OR YOUTH. NEW JOURNEYS- PROVIDES CRITICALLY NEEDED EARLY INTERVENTION AND COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT TO YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS WHO ARE EXPECTING THEIR FIRST EPISODE OF PSYCHOSIS. THIS PROGRAM PROMOTES SHARED DECISION MAKING AND USES A TEAM OF SPECIALISTS WHO WORK WITH THE CLIENT TO CREATE A PERSONAL TREATMENT PLAN. HOUSING AND RECOVERY THROUGH PEER SERVICES (HARPS) PROGRAM - PROVIDES CONSUMERS WITH MEANINGFUL CHOICE AND CONTROL OF HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES USING PEER HOUSING SPECIALISTS BY PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE ACCESS TO EVIDENCE BASED PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING. THE PROGRAM REDUCES HOMELESSNESS AND SUPPORTS THE RECOVERY AND RESILIENCY OF INDIVIDUALS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL HEALTH

THE PROGRAMS INCLUDE LOW-INCOME PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES SERVED THROUGH THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (ECEAP) A PROGRAM THAT PREPARES THREE AND FOUR-YEAR OLD CHILDREN FOR SUCCESS IN SCHOOL AND LIFE THROUGH ITS FOCUS ON THE WELL-BEING OF THE WHOLE CHILD BY PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITION, HEALTH, EDUCATION AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES.ECLIPSE - A LICENSED EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES CLINICAL ASSESSMENTS AND TREATMENT PLANNING, AND THERAPEUTIC CLASSROOMS SERVICES TO HIGH-RISK CHILDREN THREE-MONTHS THROUGH FIVE YEARS OF AGE. THE CHILDREN SPEND FOUR HOURS PER DAY IN A THERAPEUTIC CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT PARTICIPATING IN DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE ACTIVITIES WHICH PROMOTE OPTIMAL SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE THERAPIST AND HOME VISITOR WORK WITH PARENTS/CAREGIVERS IN COLLABORATION WITH ALLIED SERVICE PROVIDERS TO SUPPORT POSITIVE PARENTING.CHILD CARE NUTRITION - PROVIDES MONITORING AND REIMBURSEMENT TO LICENSED FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS FOR SERVING NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND SNACKS ACCORDING TO UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) GUIDELINES FOR CHILDREN BIRTH THROUGH 12 YEARS OF AGE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.CHILD CARE AWARE (CCA) - INCLUDES EARLY ACHIEVERS, INFANT-TODDLER CONSULTATION AND KALEIDOSCOPE PLAY & LEARN SERVICES. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND COACHING IS PROVIDED THROUGH THE EARLY ACHIEVERS QUALITY RATING AND IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM TO LICENSED CHILDCARE PROVIDERS IN ORDER TO IMPROVE QUALITY AND CARE PROVIDED TO CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM ALSO SUPPORTS INFORMAL CAREGIVERS (FAMILY, FRIEND, AND NEIGHBOR) THROUGH PLAY AND LEARN GROUPS TO ENHANCE CHILDREN'S SCHOOL READINESS. CCA ALSO PROVIDES SPECIALTY CONSULTATION TO EARLY ACHIEVERS CHILDCARE PROVIDERS WHO SERVE INFANTS AND TODDLERS TO ASSIST THEM IN SUPPORTING AN ENVIRONMENT WITH A QUALITY RATING OF EXCELLENCE.PARENTS AS TEACHERS - AN EARLY CHILDHOOD HOME VISITING PROGRAM PROVIDING PARENT EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN PRENATAL THROUGH AGE FIVE, DESIGNED TO ENHANCE CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND KINDERGARTEN READINESS.PROJECT LAUNCH EXPANSION - PROVIDES TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND TRAINING TO THREE EXPANSION COMMUNITIES, FOCUSING WITHIN LICENSED CHILDCARE PROVIDERS ENROLLED IN THE EARLY ACHIEVERS PROGRAM. DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING TRAINING, CONSULTATION AND IMPLEMENTATION IS SUPPORTED WITH THE PARTNERSHIP OF CHILDCARE PROVIDERS AND PARENTS, TO SCREEN, IDENTIFY AND REFER CHILDREN AGES BIRTH TO FIVE THAT MAY HAVE DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS. COLLABORATION WITH INFANT/TODDLER BEHAVIORAL MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTATION PROVIDED TO LICENSED CHILDCARE PROVIDERS IS COORDINATED WITH THE GOAL OF ASSISTING CHILDCARE PROVIDERS IN ACQUIRING SKILLS TO ENHANCE THE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN IN THEIR LICENSED FACILITIES. IT ALSO PROVIDES A LINK TO BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE YOUNG ADULT'S RECOVERY PROCESS. PREPARES - PREGNANCY AND PARENTING SUPPORT IS PROVIDED TO PREGNANT WOMEN AND YOUNG FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN UP TO AGE FIVE, THROUGH VOLUNTEER MENTORS AND A NETWORK OF SUPPORT PRIMARILY THROUGH PARISHES.
