Activity 2

Transitional shelter: my friend's place provides confidential transitional housing for families and/or individuals in lethal situations dealing with both domestic violence and chemical dependency for up to 12 months. Safety planning, support groups, legal advocacy services, children's services, and chemical dependency counseling services are provided to residents during their stay. My friend's place also provides supportive housing services to transition families into permanent housing via the coming home program.

Activity 3

Legal and community advocacy: provides safety planning and advocacy-based counseling. Services include outreach contacts following police intervention, intake interviews, and follow-up case management. Education provides awareness, and training on the issue of domestic violence to prevent or stop violence between partners. The dshs community service office ("cso") provides for a domestic violence advocate and educator in the cso office. The legal advocacy program provides legal resources, referrals, and outreach to survivors working with the legal system. The latina outreach program provides advocacy-based counseling, education, and support groups for spanish speaking women and children.
