Mission

The Knights of Columbus 7528 provides service and support to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the priests, pro-life organizations, scholarships to seminarians and students, and veteran service organizations.

Program Services

In May 2022 the council conducted an online auction. Net proceeds from the auction was $8,571. Some of the funds were used to pay for an ultrasound machine, support two graduating 8th grade student scholarships, along with payments to pro-life organizations, the local church based Boy Scout Troop, and a veteran support organization.$4,781$863
In April 2021 and May 2021, the council hosted dinners to support Culture of Life charities. The dinners raised $2,749. Net proceeds were used to support the following organizations with $500 to each: CCS Project Rachel, CCS Prepares for Life, Birth to Three Development Center, Do the Right Thing.$2,000$755
The council held three events to support three seminarians with scholarships. In November 2021 the council hosted an online seasonal greenery sale ($579.39), an ongoing sale of Brown Bear Charity Car wash ticket sales ($935.20) and a dinner in April 2021 to support seminarian scholarships.$1,500$913
During the fall of 2021 the council sold tickets for an annual crab feed event that was schedule for Feb 5, 2022. Ticket sales totaled $11,150. However, the event was cancelled in January 2022 because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. All the ticket sales were refunded. Square transaction fees of $250.45 for $7,100 in ticket sales was not refunded by Square. The council did receive a $60 refund from the Washington State Liquor Control Board when notified of the event cancellation.$0$250

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0For tax period ending Jun 30, 2021, a postcard 990N was filed and accepted by the IRS. The following year, for the period ending Jun 30, 2022, I attempted to sign back into the IRS ID.me account. When I got to the point of having my email, that I used for the 2021 tax return, verified, the verification email from ID.me was never received. I attempted this several times, even changing my email address. I was concerned that since I could not complete the electronic postcard filing, I needed to submit a paper copy of Form 990-EZ prior to Nov 15, 2022. I misunderstood that the new electronic filing requirement, beginning Jul 1, 2021, was applicable to all 990's. I thought it applied to the postcard 990N since that was the form that Knights of Columbus 7528 was required to file because its gross revenue for the tax period was less than $50,000. The original paper copy of the 2021 Form 990-EZ was received by the IRS office in Ogden Nov 7, 2022. On Feb 13, 2022, I received the original form back from Odgen with a cover letter dated Jan 26, 2022, informing me that the form needed to be filed electronically. Knowing the urgency to learn about electronic filing I reviewed the IRS web site to locate form990.org, an approved IRS electronic filing company.
