Mission

As expressions of god's healing love, witnessed through the ministry of jesus, we are steadfast in serving all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

Major Activities

Activity 2
The population of Thurston County has grown by 22% over the last ten years. Providence St. Peter Hospital has seen admissions grow at a similar rate. Thurston County has been one of the fastest growing counties in Washington State. Due to population trends, PSPH can no longer accommodate the demand for in-patient admissions. This means local residents traveling greater distances to have medical care. Hospital leadership is addressing the issue by implementing a two-year patient bed expansion plan starting in 2011. The plan adds an additional 21-beds and associated infrastructure. The expansion project will benefit the entire hospital as these beds can be used for many levels of care. The project funding comes from a variety of sources, including debt financing, hospital operating budgets, and generous philanthropic support from the community to the Foundation.
Activity 3
Providence Mother Joseph Care Center (MJCC) is a Catholic, non-profit facility committed to improving the care and quality of life for the elderly and chronically ill. MJCC provides high-quality care with an emphasis on respect for the cultural and spiritual diversity of those it serves. The employees, volunteers and medical staff recognize the dignity and value of each individual. MJCC provides sensitive, holistic care to meet the physical, spiritual, social and psychological needs of each patient. Funding for these programs is provided by the Foundation.

IRS990/ActivityOther/Description0Providence Medical Group's new Hawks Prairie Clinic received funds to support expansion of endocrinology and primary care services to local residents. This is in keeping with a priority focus of Providence to develop the medical home model where patients receive a continuum of care.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description1Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice brings the Providence tradition of excellence into the home setting. Their goal is to provide the highest level of service in a caring and responsive manner. The home care and hospice teams work together with physicians, patients, family members and insurance providers to meet each patient's unique needs. Access to its professional services is available 24 hours a day, every day. Serving Mason, Lewis and Thurston counties, Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice is a non-profit, state licensed and Medicare certified agency. Funding is provided through the Foundation.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description2The Sexual Assault Clinic is part of Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. It serves residents of Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Grays Harbor, Pacific and Wahkiakum counties. The physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and social workers provided special medical evaluations for children, adolescents and adults. Patients and their families are then referred to community agencies for counseling and other services. The Sexual Assault Clinic is a certified specialy services provider. The Washington State Crime Victims Compensation Program pays for every evaluation. Patients or their families will not be charged. The sexual assault nurse examiners are on call to the Providence St. Peter Hospital emergency room. Funding is provided through the Foundation.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description3Profits from the gift shops at Providence St. Peter Hospital that are donated to the Foundation are awarded back to the Hospital through an annual grant cycle coordinated by the Volunteer Services Director, a committee of volunteers and assistant administrator. Through these funds in 2011, the Foundation was able to support the purchase of vital monitors, hospital beds and a double-door freezer for the hospital.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description4Every year, St. Peter Foundation holds a special event called Christmas Forest. As part of this event, a request for contributions toward a specific "Fund-In-Need" is made. During the year, the foundation purchased an isolette incubator for premature infants and fetal vital monitors from these funds.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description5Providence St. Peter Chemical Dependency Center has been a chemical dependency provider since 1986. Its staff is committed to helping individuals and families whose lives have been affected by the harmful use of alcohol and other drugs. It offers a complete continuum of treatment options to diagnose, treat, and provide ongoing recovery support. Its medically supervised programs offer excellence in clinical counseling, comprehensive education, and a safe environment for recovery. Its facility is licensed by the State of Washington and is approved by The Joint Commission. Its programs are based on the principle that each person's needs are unique, and must be addressed specifically. Its treatment model incorporates the nationally recognized American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) placement criteria, family involvement, and community-based recovery support groups. In 2011, the Foundation provided funds to this program to support staff training and conferences, educational materials (such as drug cessation books and DVDs) and the installment of a healing garden to provide a place for mediation and reflection.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description6In 2011, the Foundation provided funds to Providence St. Peter Hospital's neurosurgery services to support the purchase of a remote-presence robot with two-way video system as part of the telestroke network for rural hospitals. Providence St. Peter Hospital's Stroke Program is working to bring the most advanced stroke care to communities in southwest Washington. Providence Telestroke Network provides access to Providence St. Peter Hospital's stroke specialists 24 hours a day. Through a secure two-way video system, its neurologists can be "in the room" with patients, their families and their local physicians, and help determine the best treatment.
IRS990/ActivityOther/Description7The Employee Emergency Fund is established and funded by the annual employee giving campaign to provide emergency short-term assistance to employees of Providence St. Peter Hospital, Providence Mother Jospeh Care Center and Providence SoundHomeCare & Hospice who face financial hardships. Eligible Providence employees may apply for this assistance in the event of a sudden loss of income (due to serious illness, death, traumatic incident, divorce, disaster to home, emergency housing, etc.). IRS990/Description0Providence St. Peter Hospital offers a wide range of services that provide health benefits to the uninsured and underserved in Southwest Washington community. These services, most of which do not generate enough income to support themselves, include programs such as psychiatry, chemical dependency, a sexual assault clinic, and a pediatrics division; free and low-cost health screenings and education events; support services for cancer patients, survivors and their families; and medical training, research and career development for current and future medical professionals. Providence St. Peter Foundation supports these services by developing and receiving philanthropic resources from the generous individuals and businesses within the community. In 2011, with these donations, the Foundation was able to provide over $300,000 to fund the acquisition and upgrade of such necessary equipment as post-surgical vital sign monitors, pharmacy retail software, patient lifts, pediatric cribs, medical pumps and telecommunications. The Foundation was also able to provide over $75,000 to fund oncology services, animal-assisted therapy and bedside companionship and grief counseling for dying patients and their families. The Foundation also funded nearly $85,000 in continuing education and medical training activities for palliative care and hospice professionals, nurses and nurse technicians, and other medcial personnel. The Foundation also supported various improvements throughout the hospital, such as the purchase of new furniture for waiting rooms, patient areas and conference rooms, and new bed linens, towels and sweatshirts and sweatpants for patients.
