Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 1:

The association records dues from members as revenue when billed to the members. Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require that dues revenue be recognized as revenue during the applicable membership period to which it applies. The effects of this departure from accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america on financial position, changes in net assets, and cash flows have not been determined.

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

Management and the board treasurer are charged with oversight of the financial statement review process. The treasurer presents the results of the financial statement review to the full board for approval. Selection of independent accountants to perform the financial statement review is handled by board approval.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The association is a non-profit organization under section 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code and is therefore exempt from federal income tax on income derived from activities related to its tax exempt purposes. Accordingly, no provision for income tax is necessary. The association evaluates uncertain tax positions whereby the effect of the uncertainty would be recorded if the outcome was considered probable and reasonably estimable. As of december 31, 2017, the assocation had no uncertain tax positions requiring accrual. The association did not recognize any penalties or interest in the statements of activities for the years ended december 31, 2017, related to the filing of the non-profit return. Tax returns for the prior three fiscal years remain subject to examination by major tax jurisdictions.
