| OUR ANNUAL YOUNG CHAMBER PLAYERS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM OCCURRED IN EARLY JULY 2022. AT THIS SUMMER DAYCAMP FOR STUDENTS IN ADVANCED MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL WE SERVED 23 STUDENTS. THEY WERE COACHED BY A RESIDENT ENSEMBLE (4 PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS AS COACHES) AND 5 STUDENT APPRENTICES (COLLEGE-UNIVERSITY-LEVEL). STUDENTS WERE ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM AFTER QUALIFYING AUDITIONS. THEY WERE GROUPED INTO SMALL ENSEMBLES. THEY REHEARSED DURING EACH DAY, AND EACH ENSEMBLE WAS ASSIGNED A SPECIFIC COACH. AT THE END OF THE WEEK THE STUDENTS PRESENTED A CONCERT FOR PARENTS AND OTHER GUESTS | $2,000 | - |
| SECOND CITY CHAMBER SERIES PRESENTED SIX (6) IN-PERSON CONCERTS IN A VARIETY OF VENUES IN TACOMA AND NEARBY CITIES. THE CONCERTS INCLUDED CLASSICAL, ROMANTIC, AND CONTEMPORARY MUSIC WITH A VARIETY OF CULTURAL STYLES, INCLUDING MUSIC FROM INDIA AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF SMALL ENSEMBLE COMPOSITIONS. MANY WERE BY AMERICAN COMPOSERS. THE VENUES INCLUDED A PUBLIC GARDEN, CHURCHES, A LOCAL CRAFT BREWERY, UNIVERSITY PERFORMING HALL, AND THE GREAT ROOM OF A PRIVATE SCHOOL. ONE OF THE CONCERTS WAS A TRIBUTE TO COMPOSERS OF UKRAINE; THE CONCERT FEATURING INDIAN MUSIC WAS IN CELEBRATION OF THE DIWALI FESTIVAL. A TOTAL OF 367 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE CONCERTS, AS COMPILED FROM OUR TICKET SALES. | - | - |
| WE PRODUCED A SPECIAL EVENT FEATURING A CELLO SOLOIST WHOSE CELLO WAS ENHANCED ELECTRONICALLY, AS WELL AS THE BEST QUARTET FROM THE YOUNG CHAMBER PLAYERS PROGRAM THAT OCCURRED EARLIER IN THE SUMMER. THIS WAS OUR ANNUAL FUND-RAISING EVENT AND WAS PRESENTED ENTIRELY IN-PERSON. WE HAD 3 LARGE TABLES OF AUCTION ITEMS AND A RAISE-THE-PADDLE SEQUENCE. THE PERFORMANCES BY BOTH THE CELLO SOLOIST AND THE YOUNG CHAMBER PLAYERS WERE WELL RECEIVED. SUPPORT FOR THIS EVENT, FOR THE CONCERTS DESCRIBED IN AN EARLIER EXAMPLE, AND FOR THE YOUNG CHAMBER PLAYERS PROGRAM CAME PRIMARILY FROM THE AUCTION PURCHASES AND RAISE-THE-PADDLE DONATIONS. FIFTY-NINE PEOPLE ATTENDED THIS EVENT. | - | - |
