“The review process of the form 990 includes a detailed review by the director of finance with the president & executive committee. After review and approval by the president, the form 990 is distributed to the board of directors prior to filling with the irs.”
“A discussion of the conflict of interest policy occurs annually at a regularly scheduled board meeting. Board members and paid officers sign a form confirming their understanding of our policy. The executive committee of the board reviews the annual forms for any conflicts. Any board member or officer found to have a conflict recuses themselves from voting and discussions on the matter. Senior services has a conflict of interest policy that ensures that any conflicts of interest or the appearance thereof for personal or organizational gain are prohibited. As in all other facets of their duties, employees, board members, volunteers, officers and agents dealing with customers, suppliers, contractors, sub-recipients, competitors or any person doing or seeking to do business with the organization are to act in the best interest of the agency, and will in no manner result in any unfair competitive advantage to a third party contractor or impair the objectivity in performing work. At the january 2015 board meeting, the board of directors adopted the risk management plan, which includes the conflict of interest policy. The board reaffirmed and individually signed the conflict of interest policy. This is also done at the time a board member joins the board during the new board orientation meeting.”
“The compensation of the ceo is reviewed and approved annually by the board of directors, excluding any members with a conflict of interest. The board uses both market comparability data and an internal parity study of similar ceo positions within comparable organizations to ensure compensation is reasonable. The deliberations and decisions are documented in the board meeting minutes at the time compensation is approved.”
“The irs form 990 is posted on the website annually. In addition, governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available to the public upon request.”
“Volunteers are one of senior services' most valuable resources and play a significant role in helping meet the needs of seniors and people with disabilities. Volunteers include senior services' board of directors, nutrition drivers, senior dining support, senior peer counselors, senior companions, foster grandparents, home repair inspectors, ethnic & pay your pal transportation support, chronic disease self-management trainers and office support. In 2024, 588 volunteers contributed 48,654 hours of service valued at $1,693,000 in support of senior services' mission.”
