Mission

The Mission of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association is to advance the cause of veterinary medicine to better the lives of those touched by it. This includes providing for the professional needs of veterinarians so they can provide high-quality medicine of pets and food animals, protect public health and protect the food supply. Through our work of providing advocacy, education, information and resources, member veterinarians and veterinary students are able to focus on their deep commitment to the care and well-being of animals, their owners, and the general public.

The mission of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association is to advance the cause of veterinary medicine to better the lives of those touched by it.

Active members may vote at the general meetings, hold office and participate in the business and activities of the Association.

Members participate in the election of the Board of Directors.

Following is an excerpt from the Organization's "Executive Compensation" policy: "C) Description of Application of Data from References i) Compensation and benefits will be assessed based on comparison to associations having the following similar attributes to WSVMA: (a) Membership type (professional association) (b) Membership size (c) Budget size (d) Staff size (e) Geographic scope ii) Compensation and benefits will be assessed based on comparison to associations in the greater Seattle metropolitan area. The committee will examine the data from each of these categories in combination, taking into account the time lag between data collection, publication, and application of the data in the WSVMA compensation consideration and considering WSVMA's percentile ranking in the reference materials.D) Establishment of compensation adjustment: Consistent with knowledge-based governance, the Executive/Finance Committee will make its determination of the compensation offer to the EVP based on the totality of information gathered in the performance evaluation and compensation review process. That is, it will consider the EVP's performance review and the reference data as applied by the committee in reaching a conclusion about compensation, including both salary adjustment and benefits adjustment(s)."

The committee will examine the data from each of these categories in combination, taking into account the time lag between data collection, publication, and application of the data in the WSVMA compensation consideration and considering WSVMA's percentile ranking in the reference materials.D) Establishment of compensation adjustment: Consistent with knowledge-based governance, the Executive/Finance Committee will make its determination of the compensation offer to the EVP based on the totality of information gathered in the performance evaluation and compensation review process. That is, it will consider the EVP's performance review and the reference data as applied by the committee in reaching a conclusion about compensation, including both salary adjustment and benefits adjustment(s)."
