Governance Explanations

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 6

The credit union has 5,998 members as of december 31, 2013.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 7A

Members of the credit union have the right to elect one or more members of the organization's governing body, whether periodically, as vacancies arise, or otherwise.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 7B

Members of the credit union have the right to approve the governing body's election and removal of members of the governing body, as well as other matters that are subject to the approval of members of the credit union, as they occur.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

The president/ceo reviews form 990 for accuracy. A copy of the 990 will be presented to the board of directors after it is filed.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

Our employees annually complete a "employee and associated account disclosure" form where the employees list all family member accounts or any other accounts where there could be a possible conflict of interest. That information is entered into our data processing systems and the system does not allow the employee to post transactions to those accounts.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

The board sets the ceo's compensation upon employment based on an outside consultant's suggestions. The rate is adjusted annually based on performance evaluations.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 19

We provide the annual report to members annually. Conflicts of interest policies and governing documents are available upon request.

-money orders our credit union exists to help people, not make a profit. Many of our members earn less than 40,000 annually. Our goal is to serve our entire membership well, including those of modest means. Our commitment to our members - we also reach out to members or potential members who are underserved. Members at the white river credit union can open an account for 25. All of those members have access to our full range of financial services. We do a lot more to help members in need: -we will grant a loan as low as 100 to assist members -financial and debt counseling for individuals -small balance loans to tide members over until payday -share secured loans, including credit cards our commitment to community financial education & literacy - promoting financial literacy has been a primary mission of credit unions since they were established. Edward a. Filene, the father of the american credit union movement in 1908 said, "credit unions are educational institutions." our intent is to teach people wise money management skills they can use to make their entire lives better. It's with this commitment, we run and support a student credit union at white river high school. Good governance and diversity - credit unions exist to serve all members equally, with dignity, respect, and consideration. We strive to serve everyone who needs financial services within our membership and to be sensitive to the individual needs of the various cultures we serve. Our employees and volunteers reflect the diversity of our membership. The credit union movement - credit unions don't just exist to provide financial services - we provided financial services for the purpose of improving lives. While our first responsibility is to our members, part of being a cooperative movement means looking beyond our walls to the larger community. This philosophy leads us to support worthwhile charitable and social coauses, and to work with other credit unions. In our credit union, we reach out by: -cooperating in alliances and partnerships to better serve our members and community -sponsoring food drives for the local food bank -supporting the children's miracle network, toys for tots, and adopt a family programs -being active participants in local service organizations including rotary, bni and mriba -establishing electronic funds transfer (eft) accounts -sharing our resources, equipment and personnel to credit unions in need. -encouraging our staff and volunteers to support our local credit union chapter

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE VOLUNTEERS CONSIST OF THE BOARD MEMBERS AND SUPERVISORY BOARD MEMBERS. THEY PROVIDE REGULAR OVERSIGHT INCLUDING REVIEWS OF POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1-MONEY ORDERS OUR CREDIT UNION EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE, NOT MAKE A PROFIT.
