“Our director was solely responsible for convincing Sierra Clubs Climate Policy Committee to lower the Clubs warming target from a further warming target of 1.5 degrees C above normal to less than 1 degrees C above normal, so as to restore our climate to within the evolutionary boundaries of Earth systems to stabilize ongoing tipping collapses. This is a first of its kind globally. In addition, our director also convinced the policy team to support geoengineering research in case emergency cooling is needed.
