Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

UCAN Title Holding Company was organized and incorporated in Illinois as a not-for-profit organization in May 2013. UTHC has received a favorable determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating that it is exempt from income taxes under the provisions of Section 501(c)(2) of the IRC of 1986, as amended, except for income taxes, if any, pertaining to unrelated business income. UTHC follows the accounting standard on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, which addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the consolidated financial statements. Under this guidance, UTHC may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of UTHC and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income. There were no uncertain tax positions identified or recorded as assets or liabilities during the reporting period covered by these consolidated financial statements. UTHC files Form 990 in the U.S federal jurisdiction and the state of Illinois.
