The purpose of this organization is to advance the education of individuals with exceptionalities and to establish programs and activities for the education of its members. Arizona Council for Exceptional Children provides professional development and training to special education teachers general education teachers principals special education directors and to related service personnel on strategies supports and legal requirements for the education of children with disabilities.

Collaborative professional development events provided by AzCEC and AZCASE for special education teachers,special education directors,general education teachers and principals and other professional working with students with disabilities in 2023-2024. These events include Survivors Conference for 87 special education leaders Principals Institute for 148 principals assistant principals department chairs Annual Conference for special education related staff 35 special education teachers and administrators attended the Special education Day at the Capitol and 140 special education leaders and teachers attending Threading the Needle to learn about recent legislation and changes in Special Education policy and rules.
