“The program provides each athlete with the opportunity to reach his or her full potential through a nationally recognized program that teaches and trains all levels of swimmers, emphasizing individual progress, team unity and family support. 100% of the activities of the west hartford acquatic team are to provide a competitive swimming environment for youth age 7-22. The organization instructs athletes competitive swimming techniques and overall conditioning. The training is conducted primarily at the university of saint joseph in west hartford, ct and miss porter's school in farmington, ct where the team rents space. Competitions are primarily held in the northeast region of the us, although travel outside the area is anticipated. All activities are both athletic and educational in nature. Daily swim practice provides the most recent techniques and training methods in an educational environment that allows for emotional development and growth. This also builds an identity within the team structure and provides the swimmer with an opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of sport in a guided and controlled environment. The swimmers individual swimming plans provide an opportunity for additional education in the areas of goal setting, technique review, nutritional information, specifically how to fuel the body properly and mental preparations for competition. The organization is a member of connecticut swimming, inc. And usa swimming.”
