“The purpose of the association is to educate the community using university reasearch based information to improve horticultural practices and develop community programs that provide sound horticultural education.”

“Working in cooperation with the oklahoma county osu cooperative extension service, oklahoma county master gardeners disseminate research proven horticultural information to individuals and groups within the community, therefore, expanding the capabilities of the oklahoma county extension office. Members spend in excess of 20,000 hours each year working to achieve the program goals. Members assemble for monthly meetings where noteworthy garden lecturers, osu professors and authors speak to the group. Master gardeners offer horticultural support to the community by phone, e-mail and in person at the county extension office monday through friday. Horticultural programs are offered to the public throughout the year. Master gardener informational booths are set up at numerous venues throughout the year, including the oklahoma state fair, farmers markets in oklahoma county, home and garden shows and other gardening events. Master gardeners also provide speakers for various groups and organization in oklahoma county. The oklahoma county master gardener website features programs offered to the community, announcements and garden-related links. There is no paid advertising on the website. Future plans are to maintain the current working relationship with the oklahoma county extension and broaden our programs that provide horticultural education and activities aimed at assisting the home and hobby gardeners in oklahoma county, as well as, target populations of elderly, young and disabled.”
