Has its form 990 prepared by an outside accounting firm and has established the following review process to ensure that the information reported is complete and accurate. When the form 990 has been prepared, reviewed by management and is ready to be filed with the internal revenue service, it is provided to the members of the organization's governing body for any comments prior to its submission. The governing body is provided with a reasonable amount of time to review the form 990. Any comments are then grouped, summarized and provided through management to the outside accounting firm. Any applicable issues are addressed prior to the return being finalized and approved for filing.”

If a conflict of interest is determined to exist management and the governing body will be notified immediately. “The organization is a not-for-profit association as described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is also exempt from state income taxes under chapter 104 of title 54, revised statutes of the new jersey law. The organization has also been classified as entities that are not private foundations within the meaning of section 509(a) and qualify for deductible contributions as provided in section 170(b)(1)(a)(vi). Accordingly, no federal or state income taxes has been presented in the accompanying financial statements. The organization follows the provisions of fasb asc, income taxes. The standard prescribes a minimum recognition threshold and measurement methodology that a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return is required to meet before being recognized in the financial statements. It also provides guidance for derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, disclosure, and transition as they relate to those tax positions. The organization does not expect a significant increase or decrease to the total amounts of unrecognized tax positions during the year ended june 30, 2025. However, the organization is subject to regular audit by tax authorities, including a review of its nonprofit status which management believes would be upheld upon examination. The organization believes that it has appropriate support for the positions taken on its tax returns. Nonetheless, the amounts ultimately paid, if any, upon resolution of the issues raised by the taxing authorities may differ materially from the amounts accrued for each year. As required by law, the organization files informational returns with both the federal and new jersey state governments on an annual basis - form 990 with the internal revenue service, and form cri-300r with the state. These returns are subject to examination by these authorities within certain statutorily defined periods for both federal and the state of new jersey.”

IN FY25, ACROSS OUR LEGAL PROGRAMS, NJCIC RECEIVED MORE THAN 1,570 REQUESTS FOR LEGAL ASSISTANCE, CONDUCTED 380 LANGUAGE-SPECIFIC SCREENINGS FOR PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY, REFERRED 271 YOUNG IMMIGRANTS TO PEER LEGAL SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND RETAINED 42 NEW AND NON-DUPLICATIVE CLIENTS AS PART OF OUR DIRECT REPRESENTATION EFFORTS. OUR POLICY TEAM WORKS TO DRIVE SYSTEMIC CHANGE THAT ADVANCES THE RIGHTS OF YOUNG IMMIGRANTS IN NEW JERSEY. THIS IS A KEY FOCUS OF OUR MISSION, WHICH INVOLVES ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS AND COMMUNICATION EFFORTS AIMED AT ADDRESSING POLICIES AND SYSTEMS THAT IMPACT EQUITABLE ACCESS TO JUSTICE, HEALTH, AND EDUCATION. TO PROMOTE NARRATIVE CHANGE AND SUPPORT YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, WE HOST THE ONE-OF-A-KIND IMMIGRANT YOUTH ADVOCATES PROGRAM FOR FIRST- AND SECOND-GENERATION IMMIGRANT STUDENTS. THIS INITIATIVE HELPS YOUNG PEOPLE DEVELOP ADVOCACY SKILLS AND ENSURES THEY HAVE A VOICE IN SHAPING THE POLICIES AND SYSTEMS THAT AFFECT THEIR LIVES. KEY FY25 IMPACTS AND OUTPUTS OF NOTE INCLUDE: 1) A SUCCESSFUL BUDGET ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN HELPING SECURE $5.3M FOR LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAM, 2) IMMIGRANT YOUTH ADVOCATES PRODUCED 5 PODCAST EPISODES VIA THEIR SELF-PRODUCED PODCAST, "MIGRANTS WITH MIGRAINES, AND 3) THE CONDUCT OF A COMPREHENSIVE STATEWIDE SCHOOL ENROLLMENT STUDY.SINCE OUR FOUNDING, OUR COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE, THE CONSORTIUM, HAS GROWN TO NEARLY 200 PROFESSIONALS REPRESENTING MORE THAN 25 ORGANIZATIONS WORKING WITH YOUNG IMMIGRANTS.
