DescriptionGrantsExpenses
As a collective of LGBTQ+ women, we recognize the importance of creating a supportive environment within our community where we can gather in a natural outdoor setting to heal and uplift one another. By reconnecting with the fundamentals of existence, empowerment, and outdoor education, we aim to counteract the influence of the predominantly indoor and digital world that has limited our generation's engagement with the outdoors and appreciation of nature. Research from PMS Pubmed National Library of Medicine, Pepperdine Boone Center for the Family, and the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention highlights the impact of societal barriers on the LGBTQ+ community's mental health, underscoring the urgent need for inclusive spaces. Organizations such as Mental Health America, National Institutes of Health, The Trevor Project, NAMI, and Human Rights Campaign have documented the mental health crisis faced by LGBTQ+ individuals due to societal discrimination. Our LGBTQ+ space offers a sanctuary for us to unite, feel secure, and gain knowledge on sustainable practices while fostering a harmonious relationship with nature through the creation of a Community Camp. Safety concerns and discomfort in public spaces have hindered the queer community from openly expressing their Pride, making the Community Camp a vital refuge where healing practices from diverse cultures can be embraced. We were able to hold 21 community events servicing over 1700 members across Texas. Public Earth Conservation Program: Teaching the local community how to conserve, recycle, resolve human wildlife conflicts, coexist with the natural world and how to live a more sustainable and environmentally friendly life. Public Holistic Care Program: reiki, meditation, yoga, natural herbs and plants, energy work, holistic health & wellness coaching. Queer Adult Program Level 1: Travelin the Rainbow Inc will host monthly events with members ages 18 and up. These events will be led by our qualified staff onsite. The attendees will attend for 4 days and 3 nights staying on the campground with full amenities. Each day focusing on different steps of the program. After completing each area of the program over the course of the year, they will have a hands-on test before completing the program and moving on to the next level. Our organization will begin with queer women and non-binary and expand to other groups within our community. Queer Kids Camp: Travelin the Rainbow Inc wants to give our LGBTQ+ youth a place to feel supported, heard, seen and given tools to succeed in the world. We want to help empower them early, in an effort to avoid the many and complex issues so many in the LGBTQ+ community experience due to family and societal judgments. The kids will have the opportunity to learn how to give back and conserve our earth, along with experiencing the benefits of animal therapy and holistic care. Our staff will host biannual events with queer children ages 8-17. These events will be led by our qualified staff onsite. The attendees will attend for 5 days and 4 nights staying on the campground with full amenities and meals provided. Each day focusing on different steps of the program, same as adults. After attending 4 events they will have completed the program and will have the opportunity to come back the following year as a youth coach to support their peers. Our ultimate goal is to establish a Community Camp that will serve as a hub for our programs and activities. This camp will provide short-term and long-term campground housing, holistic care, and a space for individuals to recharge and connect with nature. We aim to be self-sustaining and offer holistic services such as self-care, self-love, and inspiration.$12,260$7,737
