“Primary exempt purpose: connecting san diegos business community to educate and advocate for equitable, inclusive and sustainable policies. 2024 exempt purpose achievements educated and convened more than 300 local independent business owners, nonprofit and public sector workers, and civic leaders through monthly general member meetings,workshops, events, and the 3rd annual (doing) business for good summit, fostering learning around sustainable and inclusive business practices. Strengthened and amplified the voice of san diego independent business owners by offering advocacy training and driving policy awareness to bfg members who wished to engage with san diego city and county policymakers on key regional issues including continued to expand our bfg member base by 20% hosting multiple community-building events (seasonal socials, networking events, and fundraising dinners) to connect hundreds of business leaders, nonprofit partners, and civic stakeholders. Supported equitable access by providing subsidized bfg memberships to emerging small business owners, primarily from the san diego promise zone, opportunity zones,and other underserved areas of the county. Shared knowledge, impact, and policy updates through monthly newsletters and a 2024 exempt purpose achievements continue: hosted citizenship drive workshops in conjunction with regional nonprofit employee rights center, to help immigrant entrepreneurs who are eligible for u.s. Citizenship getfree legal advice and assistance with the application process as well as funding thecostly document processing fees.”
