This program will serve to provide financial and technical assistance to help grantees establish fresh and healthy food alternatives in underserved communities. THIS PROGRAM SERVES TO INCREASE ACCESS TO FOOD FOR HISTORICALLY UNDER-RESOURCED COMMUNITIES, ADDRESS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGES THROUGH THE CREATION AND RETENTION OF JOBS IN THE AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN, STRENGTHEN AND DIVERSIFY IN-STATE MARKET CHANNELS ACCESS FOR SMALL AND MID-SCALE FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS, ADVANCE FOOD SAFE STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION, AND SUPPORT PRODUCERS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES. IN FISCAL YEAR 24 VIDA MEJOR CAPITAL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE NEW MEXICO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENTS HFFF WERE ABLE TO FUND 20 BUSINESSES WITH $950,000 TO ACHEIVE THOSE GOALS. FUNDING INCREASED BY $440,000 FOR A 86% INCREASE YEAR OVER YEAR AND AN ADDITIONAL 7 BUSINESSES. IMPROVING THE CONDIITON OF NM FOOD DESERTS AND ACCESS TO FOOD.
