Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Montessori Collective's mission is to increase equity in early childhood education by bringing the transformative power of the Montessori method to underserved Denver communities. Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Early Literacy Consulting: Montessori Collective provided Denver Public Schools with consulting services and developed resources related to early literacy development in Montessori classrooms. Through this work, Montessori Collective provided professional development and resources to 42 classrooms across four Montessori elementary schools. As a result of this work, these schools saw a 21 percentage point increase in early literacy scores.$0$59,940
Transition of Existing Classrooms to Montessori and Expansion of Montessori Programs - Montessori Materials: During FY 2024, Montessori Collective purchased two sets of Montessori materials. These materials were used to transition traditional early childhood classrooms to Montessori at Garden Place Academy and Valverde Elementary. Both schools are part of the Denver Public School system. Over 85% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch at both Valverde and Garden Place. Montessori materials are fundamental to implementing the Montessori method if education. The materials are inherently intriguing to children and foster the development of practical life skills, the senses, language, math, and an understanding of the world around us. Approximately 36 children between the ages of 3-6 will use these materials each year.$0$28,339
Transition of Existing Classrooms to Montessori and Expansion of Montessori Programs - Educator Development: During FY 2024, Montessori Collective sponsored two teachers to attend training at Montessori Education Center of the Rockies. Through Montessori training and with the ongoing support of Montessori Collective coaches, educators gain the knowledge to personalize the learning for each child. This empowers teachers to use consistent observation to determine where children are on their individual learning trajectory, and use this knowledge to connect children to new learning experiences that will further their social-emotional, motor, cognitive, and academic development. Teachers then provide individualized lessons based on children's readiness. The two teachers are now educating children in Montessori Collective's partner classrooms at Valverde Elementary and Goldrick Elementary. Eight-five percent of the students at Valverde qualify for free and reduced lunch (FRL) and 83% of the students at Goldrick qualify for FRL. Each classrooms serves 15-20 three and four year old children each year.$12,100$12,100
