DescriptionGrantsExpenses
International Aid Program - Our second-largest program serves crisis-affected communities in Sudan, Chad, South Sudan, and Uganda by delivering rapid emergency relief and longer-term recovery interventions. In 2024 we provided emergency food distributions reaching approximately 825 people across Darfur and eastern Chad; erected two temporary family shelters in South Sudan that housed about 13 people for several months; and supported three mobile clinic events that treated roughly 320 patients for malnutrition, water-borne illness, and minor injuries. WASH interventions included repairing three community wells benefiting an estimated 1,500 people, constructing two communal latrines serving about 120 refugees, and running six hygiene workshops that trained approximately 135 adults and 107 youth (follow-up monitoring indicated a measurable decline in gastrointestinal illness among participants). For education and capacity building we refurbished one primary school serving about 62 students and ran three teacher-training workshops on trauma-informed and emergency pedagogy that reached eight teachers now working across multiple sites. All activities were implemented through vetted local partners and community volunteers.$22,624$21,947
As a required minimum two week intensive for enrolled students, the Shaolin Kung Fu & Meditation program combines traditional martial arts training with guided mindfulness practice to promote physical health, self-discipline, and emotional resilience. The module typically runs twice weekly and includes structured training, mindfulness workshops, goal setting exercises, and facilitated group reflections. The curriculum emphasizes nonviolent conflict resolution, healthy coping strategies, and improved school engagement. Participants served: 82 at-risk youth (each completed at least the two-week module, meeting twice weekly). Physical health: Participants completed quarterly endurance assessments; involvement in the program contributed to a 68% reduction in school-reported behavioral incidents among participants. Discipline & focus: Instructors conducted mindfulness and goal-setting sessions; 83% of participants reported improved concentration at school and home (pre/post surveys). Emotional well-being: Weekly group discussions and coping-skills training supported emotional regulation; 74% of families reported positive changes in their child's stress and anger management. Methods: Trained instructors deliver lesson plans, progress is tracked with short surveys and fitness checks, and families are engaged to reinforce learning at home.$15,377$14,501
STEM Education - Our STEM program offers free, once-weekly, project-based labs for youth ages 10-24 that teach coding fundamentals, basic electronics, and hands-on science to build critical thinking and problem-solving skills; in the reporting year 73 students participated and demonstrated measurable gains (an average 37% improvement in math and science grades mid-year to year-end), with 92% completing a group project and 64% presenting their work publicly. To assess proficiency and promote leadership, we use brief skills checks and project reviews: students who demonstrate advanced proficiency are required to train beginner cohorts as part of a peer-teaching model and receive formal certificates of completion; youth ages 19+ who meet proficiency standards are eligible to serve as classroom volunteers during sessions. The program is delivered by trained volunteers and community mentors, outcomes are tracked via pre/post surveys, instructor assessments, project artifacts, and available school grade snapshots, and we maintain lesson plans, attendance logs, volunteer rosters, and project examples in program files to support evaluation and continuous improvement.$8,493$6,712
Optional Enrichment Programs (For students seeking additional personal or professional growth) A. Creative and Cultural Programs Description: A suite of arts based activities pottery, dance, and media production aimed at expanding creative expression and cultural awareness. Activities and Outcomes: Pottery Workshops: 13 students completed eight week pottery modules; 100% showcased at our spring Community Art Exhibit. Dance Classes: 18 youth learned traditional and contemporary styles; 11 performed at the Community Cultural Festival, elevating community pride and cross cultural understanding. Media Production: A cohort of 9 students produced five short videos highlighting local stories and amplifying refugee and immigrant voices. B. Career Development and Entrepreneurship Description: Hands on training and mentorship to prepare students for the workforce or launch small businesses. Activities and Outcomes: Community House Rehabilitation: 14 students joined a six month project to restore two abandoned homes. They learned basic carpentry, painting, and teamwork. Two of the homes were rehoused by low-income families, generating $1,100 in revenue to fund next year's youth programs. Furniture Restoration Workshops: 8 students were trained in upholstery and repair; refurbished furniture sold at local markets raised $1,950, which directly underwrote supplies for our summer initiatives. Entrepreneurship Seminars: A series of three guest talks (local small-business owners, financial advisors) reached over 72 students, 9 of whom pitched micro business ideas at our Youth Startup Showcase. C. Community Engagement Initiatives Description: Projects encouraging students to serve their neighborhoods, reinforcing civic responsibility and social connectedness. Activities and Outcomes: Monthly Cleanups and Tree Plantings: Over 12 events, 81 students removed 200 pounds of litter and planted 100 saplings in local parks, improving neighborhood safety and green spaces. "Village Stories" Nights: Bi monthly gatherings where 80 students and over 103 community members (refugees, immigrants, elders) shared personal narratives. These events fostered intergenerational dialogue, and 90% of student attendees reported increased empathy and cultural understanding (post event survey).$7,934$6,702

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0Our organization does not employ a professional tax preparer. The executive director who normally prepares and signs Form 990-EZ has been deployed overseas since February 2, 2025 to provide emergency medical and logistical relief to refugees and is expected to remain in the field at least through July 2026. Because no other staff member had the training or authorized access to the organization's complete financial records and we lack the resources to retain a paid preparer, we retained a volunteer tax preparer to assist our chief financial officer in preparing the return. With volunteer support, year-end financial statements were reconciled on October 10, 2025, and Form 990-EZ was completed and filed on October 11, 2025. The brief delay was a direct result of our executive director's unavoidable, mission critical deployment and the organization's limited staffing and financial resources. To prevent future delays, we have implemented the following measures: 1. A secondary board member with accounting experience has been designated and will be cross-trained to prepare the return if the executive is unavailable. 2. Encrypted, cloud-based copies of all financial records are now maintained and accessible to two authorized officers. 3. A written timetable and a calendar reminder are set to begin assembling year end numbers four weeks before the filing deadline. We respectfully request that any late filing penalty be waived, as the delay was due to circumstances beyond our control and we have taken concrete steps to ensure timely filing in the future.
