Membership is divided into the following categories: active, affiliate, courtesy, consulting, and honorary. Qualifications, classes and voting rights are described in the organization's bylaws. Hospital staff pay dues to the organization for the privilege of membership. Members apply for a 12 month membership and each member must re-apply for membership every 2 years. Membership includes the following classes: active - active practitioners, office-based, hospital.based and hospitalists. Affiliate - practitioners within a reasonable distance from the hospital with no clinical privileges. No voting privileges. Courtesy - office-based practitioners within a reasonable distance from the hospital and hospital.based physicians who do not admit patients. No voting privileges. Consulting - office-based and hospital-based practitioners with limited admissions. No voting privileges. Honorary - retired from active practice. No voting privileges.
