Mission bay puppy rescue exists to save the lives of vulnerable dogs and puppies who are often overlooked or at risk of euthanasia in high-kill shelters across southern california. For over 30 years, the organization has been committed to rescuing pregnant dogs, nursing mothers, orphaned puppies, and abandoned animals, providing them with medical care, love, and a safe environment. Every rescued animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being placed in a loving forever home. By working closely with shelters, animal control agencies, and foster families, mission bay puppy rescue not only saves lives but also educates the community on responsible pet ownership and the importance of adoption. Their work is vital to reducing pet overpopulation and giving animals the second chance they deserve.

Below are the highlights of our accomplishments for the year: spay/neuter and adoptions - successfully spayed/neutered and adopted 210 puppies and 8 mama dogs into loving, forever homes. These efforts significantly contributed to reducing pet overpopulation and provided second chances for vulnerable animals. Medical care and veterinary services - provided comprehensive medical care to all rescued animals, including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, and treatment for injuries and illnesses. Delivered lifesaving care to more than 50 animals requiring specialized attention, including orthopedic surgery, treatment for parvovirus, and rehabilitation for abuse or neglect cases. Partnership with high-kill shelters rescued over 100 animals from high-kill shelters in southern california, prioritizing pregnant dogs, new mothers, and orphaned puppies. Community outreach and education - held 6 community events to raise awareness about the importance of adoption, spay/neuter programs, and responsible pet ownership. Educated community via social media on how to care for rescued animals and prevent animal abandonment. Foster care program expansion - increased the capacity of our foster program by 20%, ensuring more animals had access to safe, temporary homes while awaiting adoption. Supported over 20 foster families with resources, supplies, and guidance to care for rescued dogs and puppies. Emergency rescue and care - responded to 15 emergency rescue cases, including dogs abandoned on roadsides, in unsafe living conditions, or at shelters in critical need of space. MEDICAL CARE AND VETERINARY SERVICES - PROVIDED COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL CARE TO ALL RESCUED ANIMALS, INCLUDING VACCINATIONS, SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES, MICROCHIPPING, AND TREATMENT FOR INJURIES AND ILLNESSES. DELIVERED LIFESAVING CARE TO MORE THAN 50 ANIMALS REQUIRING SPECIALIZED ATTENTION, INCLUDING ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY, TREATMENT FOR PARVOVIRUS, AND REHABILITATION FOR ABUSE OR NEGLECT CASES. PARTNERSHIP WITH HIGH-KILL SHELTERS RESCUED OVER 100 ANIMALS FROM HIGH-KILL SHELTERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, PRIORITIZING PREGNANT DOGS, NEW MOTHERS, AND ORPHANED PUPPIES. COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION - HELD 6 COMMUNITY EVENTS TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF ADOPTION, SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAMS, AND RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP. EDUCATED COMMUNITY VIA SOCIAL MEDIA ON HOW TO CARE FOR RESCUED ANIMALS AND PREVENT ANIMAL ABANDONMENT. FOSTER CARE PROGRAM EXPANSION - INCREASED THE CAPACITY OF OUR FOSTER PROGRAM BY 20%, ENSURING MORE ANIMALS HAD ACCESS TO SAFE, TEMPORARY HOMES WHILE AWAITING ADOPTION. SUPPORTED OVER 20 FOSTER FAMILIES WITH RESOURCES, SUPPLIES, AND GUIDANCE TO CARE FOR RESCUED DOGS AND PUPPIES. EMERGENCY RESCUE AND CARE - RESPONDED TO 15 EMERGENCY RESCUE CASES, INCLUDING DOGS ABANDONED ON ROADSIDES, IN UNSAFE LIVING CONDITIONS, OR AT SHELTERS IN CRITICAL NEED OF SPACE. NOTABLE SUCCESS STORIES INCLUDE THE RESCUE AND ADOPTION OF "THE BOX OF WONDERS" LITTER OF 8 PUPPIES, AND INDIVIDUAL RESCUES LIKE BUCKET, KUMA, AND GRACE, EACH OVERCOMING SIGNIFICANT ODDS TO FIND LOVING HOMES. ADOPTION SUCCESS METRICS - ACHIEVED A 100% ADOPTION PLACEMENT RATE FOR ALL PUPPIES AND MAMAS DEEMED READY FOR ADOPTION. CONDUCTED THOROUGH SCREENING OF ALL ADOPTERS TO ENSURE THE BEST POSSIBLE MATCHES FOR BOTH ANIMALS AND FAMILIES. SUSTAINABILITY AND RESOURCE ALLOCATION - PROVIDED MORE THAN 10,000 POUNDS OF DOG FOOD, TREATS, AND SUPPLIES TO CARE FOR RESCUED ANIMALS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
