Healthy and local food system - healthy archuleta supports a healthy and local food system through 1) supporting local farmers and producers, including the purchase and distribution of over 15,000 lbs of locally raised ground beef to supply the archuleta food pantry network (a 150% increase over 2023); 2) increasing access to fresh produce among food panty clients through hydroponic lettuce production of 948 heads to distribute fresh greens to food pantry clients (a 140% increase over 2023); 3) operation of the food distribution center that supports the storage and distribution of local foods, including hydroponic production and donations from backyard and community gardens, and items donated through local food drives hosted by healthy archuleta and partners to the archuleta food pantry network; 4) offering community education opportunities including garden education classes (n=6), local food system education efforts through schools (250 educational hours), youth summer internships (n=6) and community events (2024 archuleta food summit) to share information and enhance awareness related to the elements of the food system; 5) addressing food insecurity through facilitating the archuleta county food pantry network and working to increase access to food assistance programs; 6) promoting local food consumption through conducting market research and developing a healthy and local food system social marketing campaign to encourage residents to choose local foods; and 7) information gathering, analysis, and sharing through the nutrition security|health equity assessment and community survey to understand the current issues and opportunities in the local food system and develop community solutions. These efforts aim to create a more just, resilient, and sustainable food system that benefits all residents of archuleta county.

Primary preventive healthcare system - healthy archuleta is supporting the primary preventive healthcare system through community-initiated solutions such as: 1) developing and facilitating a community-based health fair to connect community members (n=328) with low-cost laboratory tests (n=228), screening services (n=129), healthcare, mental health, and oral health care providers, and community resources (n=28); 2) working with the four largest primary preventive healthcare organizations to form an archuleta rural health network focused on increasing care for uninsured, underinsured, and medicaid eligible community members; 3) expanding access to mental and behavioral healthcare for underserved populations, 4) planning and implementing a community participatory nutrition security|health equity assessment and community survey (that has engaged over 600 community memebrs) to understand the community's current state of primary healthcare access and utilization and structural barriers impacting community members; and 5) engaging partner organizations (n=35) in the assessment process and the health partner coalition. Additionally, healthy archuleta provides prevention-focused education related to community health and wellness and identifies and supports policy, systems, and environment (pse) changes and/or programming.

Community cohesion - healthy archuleta works to advance community cohesion across affinity groups, including youth, those sharing similar cultures, growers and producers, and other sessions related to a healthy local food system and health and wellness. In 2024, over 15 youth offered services to the community through events such as food drives, food summit, and health fair. Additionally, over 65 community members participated in at least one affinity group session. Other activities hosted and/or facilitated by healthy archuleta related to community cohesion in 2024 included sharing information at community events (n=6), food demos (n=2), supporting community gardens (n=2), developing partnerships with institutions of higher education, engaging volunteers (n=166) and enhancing awareness related to the nutrition security and health equity via facebook, e-news, instagram, and local news outlets (n=2,300).
