Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission is to assist the safe evacuation and resettlement of Afghans left in harm's way after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Operation Snow Leopard is a nonprofit founded by a group of veterans and civilian allies to support, evacuate, and resettle high-risk Afghan refugees. Our volunteer team helps Afghans being persecuted, including women leaders, human rights defenders, lawyers, journalists, interpreters, and other vulnerable minorities who have been left behind.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
In 2024, Operation Snow Leopard coordinated safe passage, protection, and case management for high-risk Afghan families facing persecution. Our volunteer network helped move individuals to safer locations, maintained safe houses supporting 40 Afghans, and coordinated documentation including SIV, P-1, P-2, and humanitarian parole cases. We supported Afghan students and families in the US, Pakistan, Spain, and Argentina, along with individuals unable to safely return to Afghanistan. These efforts ensured lifesaving protection for vulnerable women leaders, human rights defenders, journalists, interpreters, and other at-risk groups.$0$29,353
OSL provided direct support to Afghan families rebuilding their lives in the United States through legal case assistance, housing placement, and access to essential services. Volunteers coordinated job support, workforce integration, medical and psychological care referrals, and emergency shelter solutions. The team also helped Afghan members launch small businesses and connect with community resources to stabilize long-term resettlement. These comprehensive services ensured that newly arrived Afghans were able to begin rebuilding with dignity, safety, and support.$0$16,829
In 2024, OSL hosted its first in-person Annual Gathering in Los Angeles, bringing together veterans, civilians, donors, and Afghan families to strengthen mission unity. OSL also partnered with The Moth to run a four-week storytelling program culminating in a live event highlighting Afghan and veteran voices. Media efforts included a Global Washington article, a Goalmakers Podcast feature, and transitioning The Afghan Digest to the Association of Wartime Allies, where it continues as an independent weekly intelligence report supported by OSL collaborators. These storytelling and community efforts expanded awareness, advocacy, and support for Afghan families still at risk.$0$1,460
Throughout 2024, OSL collaborated with international organizations including the International Parliamentary Union, Parliamentarians for Global Action, the International Association of Women Judges, Jewish Humanitarian Response, and Christian Freedom International. Volunteers traveled at their own expense to meet partners, attend UN and Geneva discussions, and advance evacuation and protection strategies. These partnerships allowed OSL to elevate the cases of Afghan women leaders and other high-risk individuals in order to secure vital pathways for relocation.$0$921
