Exempt purpose: teaching basketball to youth through an amateur program, combating juvenile delinquency and lessening the burden of the government by providing youth with educational sports activities, and fostering national or international amateur sports competition.

General explanation attachment

The directors of lmba have reviewed this form 990ez for the tax year 2024. The officers/directors of lmba adopted a conflict of interest policy. This policy has been signed by all officers and directors. Each of the officers and directors complied with this policy during the 2024 tax year. No member of the board of directors, officers, or top management is compensated for solely serving in their position. An officer, director, or manager may be compensated for coaching or instruction services, which will be paid at the same rate as all other coaching or instruction providers based on the going rate in the industry. Additionally, the executive director who oversees the lmba is reasonably compensated for their efforts. The executive directors compensation was determined by referencing form 990s of similar organizations and approval by the board. No member of the board of directors, officers, or top management is compensated for solely serving in their position. An officer, director, or manager may be compensated for coaching or instruction services, which will be paid at the same rate as all other coaching or instruction providers based on the going rate in the industry. The governing document is available on the iowa secretary of state website. Bylaws, conflict of interest policy, and other records are available for public inspection by request to the officer in charge of the books. In fy 2023 the board of directors was expanded from seven (7) to ten (10)in order to add a girls program to the lmba.the bylaws of lmba state that the board is limited to seven (7) directors. By resolution, the board was increased to ten (10). The girls program had activity during the fy and a second executive director was added to lead the girls program

AN OFFICER, DIRECTOR, OR MANAGER MAY BE COMPENSATED FOR COACHING OR INSTRUCTION SERVICES, WHICH WILL BE PAID AT THE SAME RATE AS ALL OTHER COACHING OR INSTRUCTION PROVIDERS BASED ON THE GOING RATE IN THE INDUSTRY. ADDITIONALLY, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WHO OVERSEES THE LMBA IS REASONABLY COMPENSATED FOR THEIR EFFORTS. THE GOVERNING DOCUMENT IS AVAILABLE ON THE IOWA SECRETARY OF STATE WEBSITE. BYLAWS, CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY, AND OTHER RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC INSPECTION BY REQUEST TO THE OFFICER IN CHARGE OF THE BOOKS. IN FY 2023 THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WAS EXPANDED FROM SEVEN (7) TO TEN (10)IN ORDER TO ADD A GIRLS PROGRAM TO THE LMBA.THE BYLAWS OF LMBA STATE THAT THE BOARD IS LIMITED TO SEVEN (7) DIRECTORS. BY RESOLUTION, THE BOARD WAS INCREASED TO TEN (10). THE GIRLS PROGRAM HAD ACTIVITY DURING THE FY AND A SECOND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WAS ADDED TO LEAD THE GIRLS PROGRAM
