“TrestleLink made substantial progress toward sustainability this year by securing three contracts with research organizations, and two impending. Although these contracts were executed in the tax year, there was only one small invoice executed within the fiscal year. Initial invoices on two of these contracts were executed subsequent to the current fiscal year. The organization also made substantial progress in organizational development by expanding its board membership, acquiring liability and directors and officers insurance, and drafting its first policy and procedure manual to supplement the rules outlined in bylaws. This included the onboarding of a new treasurer and two additional officers to the board, and two additional members at large. Policies and procedures are intended to create clear role definition between board members and an assistant who can execute those duties. The bylaws and policies also clarify compensation policies, decorum expectations, non-discrimination and non-harassment policies, document retention and destruction, and whistleblower protections. The organization also made substantial progress protecting intellectual property of the trademark Research-to-Policy Collaboration by creating standard contract language for the conditions and right to use the model. The website was also completed this year, which has been a critical milestone for marketing services and explaining our mission. We forecast cost-effecient margins on the contracts that will allow the organization to invest in its growth, development, and professionalized workforce. The seed grant received by the William T. Grant Foundation was critical for supporting the incorporation and development of TrestleLink and has now been spent. We anticipate additional direct revenues and expenses to occur in the next tax year as additional contract activity will involve revenues and expenses. The forecasted cash flow should also mitigate perceived solvency risks that can attract philanthropic grants in the coming years.”
