No staff or volunteers may be involved in a purchase by the organization in which they have a private interest, have any financial interests in or profit, directly or indirectly, from any business dealings with the association. It shall be the policy of the organization that an employee shall not knowingly purchase or promote the purchase of any goods or services from any member, employee or from any member or employee's immediate family member without prior approval from the executive board. “Compensation for employees is determined by several factors: cost of living, amount of hours worked, position title, required duties of position, level of education, etc. Compensation scales found online and inquiries with professional organizations (ex. Iafn, utah non-profit association) are reviewed periodically to determine fair and equitable compensation for all positions within the organization. Compensation for employees is recommended by administrative staff and is reviewed and rejected or approved by board members.”
“The organization's governing documents are made available to the public upon request.”
“Wasatch forensic nurses (wfn) 22 years of operation, have shown growth, community, change, and longevity. In 2024, wfn was able to maintain its long-standing record of outstanding trauma-informed care and provide services to survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Wfn was able to provide care to 1008 patients throughout salt lake, summit, utah, and wasatch counties. This is the highest number of patients wfn has served in its history. An additional 337 patient consultations were completed by our team. These are direct contact phone calls with patients, law enforcement, hospitals, advocates and other community partners. In 2024, wfn provided two critical trainings to our nurses. The first being a court training held in a real courtroom, simulating a courtroom experience for our nurses where they were able to practice testifying on mock cases. The second training was a skills training in which our nurses were able to conduct mock exams and receive detailed, in-depth training on topics such as photography, femr, and injury documentation that allowed them to improve their skills as forensic nurse examiners. Utilizing federal vawa funding, wfn was able to send several nurses to the international association of forensic nursing conference. Nurses attended the conference and brought back information from various sessions that allowed them to share their knowledge with the entire team so everyone benefitted from their attendance at this conference. Nurses learned about various topics that are directly related to their daily work with wasatch forensic nurses. 2024 brought a record number of nurses to the team. Wfn has always sought ways to increase nurse retention and increases in pay from 2023 that were carried over to 2024 assisted in this endeavor. Approximately 36% of nurses on the team in 2024 had three years or more with the team. There is no substitution for the experience and leadership these nurses bring to the team. Wfn increased it's resource team in 2024, promoting four additional nurses to serve in the resource position. Now a team of eight, the resource team provided 24-hour assistance to the team, answering difficult questions, assisting in signing memorandums of understanding for interpersonal violence exams, finding additional nurses (not on-call) to respond to cases when the on-call nurses were already assisting patients, and debriefing with the nurses after cases, amongst other things. Feedback from the nurses regarding resource is that it is an invaluable tool to have someone you can call anytime day or night for assistance. This has also assisted in the retention of nurses on the team, with most nurses reporting they feel supported and heard. Collectively, between all eight nurses, there is a representation of over 58 years of forensic nurse examiner experience. Wfn continued to provide preceptorships to nurses from across the state in 2024. Wfn trained six forensic nurse examiners from various areas of the state, allowing nurses from rural teams, who may care for a limited number of patients each year, to spend four days with our team shadowing exams, conducting mock exams, and receiving one-on-one training to maintain and improve their skills as forensic nurse examiners. Feedback from nurses who attended the training in 2024 found it helpful, and they learned additional skills that assisted them with patient charting, photography, and examination techniques. Wfn has always been a leader in forensic nursing and has maintained ways to pass along knowledge to other teams in the state. Wfn began targeted outreach to local universities within our service area to offer presentations to students and various university groups to increase awareness surrounding sexual assault and interpersonal violence. This outreach was fruitful, allowing wfn to present to five university groups from brigham young university, noorda college, university of utah, and westminster univers”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | WASATCH FORENSIC NURSES (WFN) 22 YEARS OF OPERATION, HAVE SHOWN GROWTH, COMMUNITY, CHANGE, AND LONGEVITY. THIS OUTREACH WAS FRUITFUL, ALLOWING WFN TO PRESENT TO FIVE UNIVERSITY GROUPS FROM BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY, NOORDA COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF UTAH, AND WESTMINSTER UNIVERS |
