South valley services mission is to eradicate family violence by providing options of shelter, advocacy, and prevention to anyone experiencing psychological, physical, emotional, economic or sexual abuse at home. Our program aims to transform communities by empowering individuals and families to live free from violence.

“The organization provides a copy of its conflict of interest policy to all board members and management during onboarding. In addition, a copy is provided annually. All board members and management are required to review the policy and sign a disclosure statement, which acknowledges and understanding of the policy and discloses any potential conflicts of interest they are aware of. All potential conflicts of interest are reviewed by the executive committee to determine the appropriate action to be taken to eliminate or mitigate risks posed by the conflict. The organization requires that board members with conflict of interest be recused from the deliberation and voting related to a transaction or action in which they may have conflict.”

“Shelter services shelter services provide a temporary safe home for survivors of domestic violence and their families. South valley services shelter has 13 rooms and 56 beds (54 beds + 2 overflow trundle beds). Each family has their own bedroom with a private bathroom. There are communal areas such as the living room, teen room, computer room, laundry room, kitchen children's learning center, and playground. In fiscal year 2023-24 the west jordan site provided 12,690 nights of shelter for 438 individuals of which 46% percent were children. Additionally, west jordan answered 4,549 crisis hotline calls of which 1,088 were high risk of homicide. The tooele site provided 3,555 nights of shelter for 111 individuals of which 37% were children. Additionally, the tooele site answered 991 crisis hotline calls.”
“Case management south valley services has multiple community resource center locations in the cities of west jordan, riverton, kearns, west valley and salt lake city. The community resource centers can assist individuals with finding the appropriate resources to meet their needs and achieve their goals. By utilizing a coordinated community response model, we are able to offer case management services to all community members in the areas of family violence, community resources, mental health, etc. We also offer housing services to victims of domestic violence through our housing program. In fiscal year 2023-24, south valley services provided 2,065 case management services to 825 clients experiencing domestic violence and/or sexual assault. We also provided 1,298 hours of clinical counseling provided by 2 clinicians and 3 interns for 429 survivors.”
“Education & outreach south valley services offers weekly support groups and adult classes in english and spanish including a self-esteem group. Isolation is a major tactic of domestic abuse and many reports a sense of relief to know that they are not alone on their journey. Anyone from the community is welcome to attend at no cost. The healthy relationship classes are designed to empower individuals to build healthy relationships with those around them. Healthy relationship classes are a critical part of south valley service's mission to prevent domestic violence. By attending healthy relationship classes, participants will learn how to identify healthy relationships and build skills to improve the relationships in their lives. In fiscal year 2023-24, south valley services provided education at 276 events to 6,851 recipients.”

“The organization has been recognized by the internal revenue service (irs) as exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3), qualifying for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(1)(a)(iv) and has been determined not to be a private foundation under section 509(a). The organization is annually required to file a return of organization exempt from income tax (form 990) and is subject to income tax on net income that is derived from business activities that are unrelated to their exempt purposes. Management has determined that the organization is not subject to unrelated business income tax.
