Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Mission: Safe Harbor, a non-profit organization, provides shelter, supportive services and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as education, awareness and resources to our community. Vision: All individuals empowered to choose a life free of violence. Safe Harbor operates with these values:Everyone has a right to a safe, self-determined life free of violence.Safe Harbor Crisis Center treats each person as an individual providing a safe place to heal and services that will help them leave better than they came.Interpersonal violence affects everyone. There is an intergenerational cycle of violence we must address with intervention, education, and community awareness. Children from violent homes experience trauma that can have a lifelong impact.Domestic and sexual violence are about power and control.Safe Harbor Crisis Center strives to create a community where violence and abuse are not tolerated.

Davis Citizens Coalition Against Violence (dba Safe Harbor Crisis Center) was established in 1994 as a not-for-profit organization. Begun by concerned citizens who wanted to address the violence they saw in their community, they established the first, and still the only, domestic violence shelter and service provider in Davis County. Since opening doors to the shelter in 1997, services have continued to grow and expand to meet the needs of those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking, as well as our community. Our free, trauma-informed services now include: 24/7 emergency protective shelter, hope housing, outreach services, childrens services, sexual assault services, protective order services, therapy, lethality assessment law enforcement partnerships, 24/7 crisis response, support and psychoeducational groups, and community outreach and engagement. All services are inclusive and available in English and Spanish. Recently, we doubled the capacity
