“Significant changes to governing documents: peace house made changes to the organizations by laws in september 2020 to increase the number of board members up to 25.”
“Organization's process to review form 990: the finance committee and the board treasurer review the form 990 before it is finalized and filed. The full board is provided a public copy of the 990 in advance of filing and the board treasurer provides a presentation at a subsequent board meeting.”
“Monitoring and enforcement of conflict of interest policy: each individual (employee and board member) shall disclose to peace house any personal interest which he or she may have in any matter pending before the organization and shall refrain from participation in any decision on such matter. Any employee or board member of peace house shall refrain from obtaining any list of peace house's clients for personal or private solicitation purposes at any time during and after the term of their affiliation.”
“Compensation process for top official: the peace house inc. Executive committee reviews the (una) utah nonprofit compensation report as well as other comparable and local nonprofits form 990s when determining executive director compensation. The executive committee then approves compensation and documents the decision and process by completing the status and compensation change form, which is signed and approved by the board chair. Per irs form 990 definitions, there are no other employees meeting the criteria for disclosure.”
“Documents available upon request: the governing documents and form 990 are made available upon request.”
“New PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTs: Transitional Housing - The Organization implemented a new transitional housing program in September 2020 that provides families and individuals affected by domestic violence and abuse a place where they can heal and rebuild their lives with dignity for up to two years. The transitional housing wing in the new facility is comprised of 12 furnished apartment units co-located with all of Peace House, Inc. support services. Childcare - The Organization will provide a licensed childcare center for children affected by domestic violence and abuse residing on campus or for families that need childcare to attend therapy, case management or legal advocacy appointments. This program will allow parents to work and heal while their children participate in therapeutic play and enrichment activities in a safe environment. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC DELAYED FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF BOTH THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND CHILDCARE PROGRAMS.”
“Peace House offers two types of residential services to survivors of INTERPERSONAL violence and sexual assault and their children. Shelter - Peace House provides emergency shelter for adults and their children when they are escaping domestic violence and need a safe place. The shelter provides temporary safe housing for families while they acquire the resources and support necessary to live their lives free from violence. Peace House served 134 individuals in the emergency shelter with 35% of those being children. 3,791 nights of safe shelter were provided to those families and individuals fleeing abuse. Seventy-four percent of the survivors in Peace House enrolled in the shelter program were able to safely, secure permanent housing after fleeing domestic violence. Transitional Housing - The transitional housing program provides a range of services to help victims and their families obtain and maintain housing. The transitional housing program is comprised of 12 furnished apartment units co-located with all of Peace House support services. Safe, secure housing and wrap around support services offer victims the time up to two years to focus on safety and stability while they rebuild their lives. This support provides a solid foundation as they transition from the program and reintegrate into permanent housing in the community. This year 6 units were occupied with the remaining six expected to come online by early 2022. Peace House provided 8 adults and 4 children a total of 1,153 nights of longer term, safe housing.”
“Clinical- PEACE HOUSE CLINICAL PROGRAM OFFERS INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, GROUP THERAPY AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES ON AN OUTPATIENT BASIS AND IN THE SHELTER SETTING TO RESIDENTS. The clients served include any person affected by domestic abuse, child abuse survivors and victims, sexual assault survivors and victims, and other clients in the community that recognize symptoms of an unhealthy relationship. Last year, Peace House provided 900 hours of therapy to adult survivors and 223 hours of therapy to children. In addition, Peace House case managers provided case management services to 125 adults for 944 hours. Case managers focus on goals to increase safety and stability by connecting survivors to resources such as housing, employment, childcare, legal assistance, financial assistance and safety planning. Peace House also offers a hospital response program to provide advocacy and support to victims of sexual assault and rape as they receive medical care and a forensic exam from a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at local hospitals. This year, Peace House attended 28 exams providing emotional support, information on services and victim rights, and resource and referral to sexual assault victims and their families.”
“Outreach - Peace House provides all the same out-of-shelter support services to victims of domestic violence and identifies at-risk families to help them avoid domestic violence crisis situations. The bi-lingual program includes education, support groups, crisis intervention, legal advocacy and case management. Peace House served 96 adults with legal advocacy services which included assistance with civil protective orders and stalking injunctions as well as information on victim rights when survivors are navigating the criminal justice system. Psycho-educational groups addressing the dynamics of domestic violence and healthy parenting were provided to over 80 adults this year.”
“Education/Awareness - Peace House provides education about family and child abuse and healthy relationships to children in community schools for grades kindergarten through 12. We also provide presentations in the community to create awareness about domestic violence and the services available at Peace House. Last year, the prevention education team provided 709 presentations in the community and to schools to 19,075 children, parents and community members. Volunteer - Peace House operates a volunteer program that attracts, educates and trains volunteers to support each of the service areas, including direct victim services, facility maintenance and enhancement, community awareness initiatives, prevention education, and on-going administrative, legal and technical support. This fiscal year, Peace House had 169 volunteers donate 1,344 hours to support our programs and projects. Childcare - Peace House will provide a licensed childcare center for children affected by domestic violence and abuse residing on campus or for families that need childcare to attend therapy, case management or legal advocacy appointments. This program will allow parents to work and heal while their children participate in therapeutic play and enrichment activities. The childcare center will be open to children from 6 weeks to 10 years of age and serve families residing in the emergency shelter and transitional housing, as well as families utilizing our outpatient counseling and case management services. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused delays in operationalizing this program. Peace House continues to work towards the launch of childcare services in 2022/2023.”
“Escrow arrangement: The purpose of the escrow account is to capture monthly move-in deposits and monthly license fees collected from transitional housing program participants. Escrow disbursements help participants save money for relocation to permanent housing. The license fees and deposits collected are returned to eligible participants upon exit from the transitional housing program. Participants who successfully meet conditions to receive disbursements will receive 100% of their license payments and 50% of deposit held in the escrow account.”
