Mission and Program Overview

Mission

EightFifteens charitable purpose is to provide safe and loving homes for every teen in foster care while also equipping them for sustainable personal achievement.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Gap Fund Program GFP: To equip transition-age youth for sustainable personal achievement EightFifteen works with fostered and formerly fostered youth in the Pittsburgh area to help them build the stable relationships skills and resources necessary for them to succeed once they have transitioned out of care. The program is open to youth ages 16-25 who are currently in foster care or who have previously been in care as a teen 13-19. Once admitted to the program each youth is matched with a team of volunteer coaches who provide relational permanency and support for them. Youth and coaches meet weekly to receive training on goal-setting and team-building skills then each participant and their coach work together to create goals specific to the needs and interests of each youth. For participating in the program each youth accrues available funds which can be used for qualifying expenses as needed. 11 youth and 18 volunteer coaches participated in the GFP during 2023.$44,899$12,781
Resource Family Support Program RFSP: In order to provide fostered teens with safe and loving homes EightFifteen works through local churches in the Pittsburgh area to recruit and support families willing to foster or adopt children with a special emphasis on children over the age of ten. EightFifteen volunteers provide support for foster kinship and adoptive families caring for these older children in order to ensure that they have everything that they need and to mitigate concerns or constraints that might otherwise prevent them from being able to foster or adopt. EightFifteen has partnered with licensed foster care and adoption agencies that will provide training and certification for new resource parents interested in fostering or adopting teens.$0$320
