Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The community engagement & opportunity council (ceoc) is on a mission to provide under-served communities with resources and opportunities designed to create long-term sustainability and generational impact. Our organization was built on the realization that there is a true absence in opportunity and tools for those living in impoverished communities, both rural and urban. Ceoc is committed by way of our resources, relationships, and experiences to create pathways of achievement through sports, mentorship, and economic opportunity. Ceoc has helped shape and fund two impactful programs in close partnership with bridgebuilders, an organization dedicated to serving the bonton community in south dallas the literacy lab and the south dallas driving academy.

Our mission is to revitalize the communities of america through sports, mentorship, and economic opportunity.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

At community engagement & opportunity council (ceoc), our mission is to revitalize communities in america by way of sports, mentorship, and economic opportunity. Our efforts to strengthen communities include providing essential resources for those who need immediate relief as well as providing access to sustainable opportunities that will impact generations to come.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

In 2024, seeing the need to assist student athletes in realizing their full potential beyond their discipline of sport, ceoc launched first down mentorship initiative. This program was created to encourage student athletes to use their love and talent for the game to go beyond the field of play. Ceoc recognizes the unique platform athletes possess and how that platform can often influence the masses. Our "first down" initiative was launched in february 2024 with 12 high school athletes. They attended 4 interactive training sessions; professional etiquette, role vs. Identity, social media safety, and resume building/hr panels led by former professional and collegiate athletes, and business and community leaders.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Ceoc partnered with southern methodist university (smu) to pilot a 4-week session in the summer of 2024, which included current and former student athletes participating in our first down u(niversity). Our reasons for expanding into the collegiate arena: - only 27% of ncaa athletes agree that they had a mentor in college who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams (ncaa and gallup, 2020) - career termination is the most traumatic experience of an athlete, which often generates identity crises & coping difficulties (hatamleh, m. (2013). The life transition of high-performance athletes retirement from sport. European scientific journal, 9) - 95% of fortune 500 ceos played sports in college (coachup.com) the summer pilot was successful and ceoc led interactive training sessions for collegiate athletes and graduate assistants as part of a graduate course during the fall semester.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Future initiatives in 2024, we continued to serve our students in our learning labs to increase their grade level proficiency in our 2 labs that were opened in 2023. We look forward to opening a 3rd lab over the next 12 months, as this will allow us to serve more students throughout our program in another area in the dfw metroplex. Continue to grow our first down and first down u mentorship initiatives. Other exempt purposes accomplishments -back to school laptop drive - ceoc, in partnership with att, compudopt, and new life community church provided 132 laptops to students, in the frisco area, that do not own a personal computer at home. -bonton "i got your back" block party: ceoc, in partnership with bridgebuilders, equipped more than 500 south dallas students and their families with supplies and resources for the 2024-25 school year

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0AT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL (CEOC), OUR MISSION IS TO REVITALIZE COMMUNITIES IN AMERICA BY WAY OF SPORTS, MENTORSHIP, AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1IN 2024, SEEING THE NEED TO ASSIST STUDENT ATHLETES IN REALIZING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL BEYOND THEIR DISCIPLINE OF SPORT, CEOC LAUNCHED FIRST DOWN MENTORSHIP INITIATIVE.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2CEOC PARTNERED WITH SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY (SMU) TO PILOT A 4-WEEK SESSION IN THE SUMMER OF 2024, WHICH INCLUDED CURRENT AND FORMER STUDENT ATHLETES PARTICIPATING IN OUR FIRST DOWN U(NIVERSITY).
