The Corporation is organized exclusively for purposes as specified in Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. The specific purposes of the Corporation are to advance public policy in West Virginia that benefits working class West Virginians. The Corporation shall not be conducted or operated for profit and no part of the net earnings of the Corporation shall indure to the benefit of any individual, nor shall any of the profits or assets of the Corporation be used other than for the purposes of the Corporation. This was primarily accomplished through three programs: First was our apprenticeship program. This program consisted of selecting local organizers and giving them training and other professional help throughout the year. Our support allowed them to received grants, open bank accounts, and give support to their own networks. This is a long term project and consisted of many 1-on-1 conversations with the participants to ensure our relationships were strong. Second was our work on a ballot initiative. This work was intended to get a ballot initiative approved to all a vote on affordable housing and marijuana decriminalization. The largest portion of the work consisted of local organizing efforts and making time for 1-on-1 conversations. Although these initiatives did not get on the ballot, the time spent organizing around these issues greatly expanded our network and created a greater awareness for how we can improve our local communities.$41,168$41,168

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0After our FY23 990 was repeatedly rejected, we spoke to the IRS regarding the issue. We found out that our fiscal year-end had been switched from December to January at some point between 2022 and 2023, resulting in the FY22 990 being rejected as well. Our previous accountant left the organization in August of 2023 and was unaware of the error. The year-end date has since been fixed and our FY23 990 has been accepted. We are now resubmitting the FY22 rejection and humbly request that no penalties or interest be assessed. Please call (304) 694-4424 with any questions. Sincerely, Jodi Sine, WVCW accounting & reporting officer
