IRS990/Desc0The Sacramento Valley Manufacturing Alliance (SVMA) was formed by the region's manufacturers to address the need for a qualified and well-trained workforce. Accomplishments during 2025, include the following:ADMINISTRATIONSVMA board members engaged in a five-month strategic planning process. The process resulted in a new mission statement, and the group clearly identified five key subgroups/working committees that meet on a monthly basis: Membership, Marketing, Talent Pipeline Management, Finance & Funding, Succession Planning.As part of succession planning, SVMA is recruiting three new board members who will assume their roles in 2026, and amended its by-laws to clearly articulate a rotation schedule to recruit new members.WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENTThird year of the SVMA Apprenticeship Program. Two apprentices were awarded their DOL Journeyman Apprenticeship Certificate.SVMA received a grant from Sierra College to support the expansion of the SVMA CNC Apprenticeship Program. As a result, SVMA was able to hire a part-time apprenticeship manager.As of December 2025, five apprentices are enrolled in the apprenticeship program, and eleven candidates are seeking employment.SVMA hosted the 2nd Annual High School Manufacturing Challenge at the Citrus Heights Community Center. Sixty-five students from fourteen different high schools participated. Mentor of the Year Awards were presented to Faith Caplan at Cordova High School and John Fuller of Roseville High School. The event hosted over one-hundred fifty parents, students, manufacturers, community members and community college representatives.EDUCATIONSVMA members hosted tours for eleven high-school and adult eduction classes. SVMA members participated in six high school and five community college career fairs.SVMA members participated in two community college and three high school technical education advisory meetings. SVMA members participated in eight community job fairs. SVMA partnered with the local community colleges to host four events during the past year. SVMA & Folsom High School co-hosted a Fall 2025 HAAS Technical Education Conference for regional high school and community college instructorsSierra College hosted an open house for manufacturers in May 2025 to learn about the Mechatronics, Advanced Manufacturing and Welding Programs. Over fifty manufacturers attended.Sacramento City College hosted two Engineering and Technology open houses on April 24 and November 20. Over thirty manufacturers and two-hundred current, former and future students attended each event.SVMA partnered with Yuba College to recognize the three students who won the National Project MFG Competition in May 2025. The event was attended by over seventy-five people representing Yuba College, parents, students, employers and community representatives. SVMA hosted a round-table of area manufacturers to highlight manufacturing career pathways for the students. The three student award winners have all found employment with area employers.SVMA hosted the October 2025 Manufacturers & Educators Mixer, the premier event for manufacturers and educators to collaborate around work-based learning opportunities. Over sixty attendees representing SVMA members, manufacturers, high school and community college faculty participated.SVMA attended the Roseville High School Career Fair on December 5 and presented to one-hundred students about manufacturing careers and the SVMA apprenticeship program.SVMA facilitated open house tours of manufacturing programs at Sierra College & Yuba CollegeMEMBERSHIP/PROFESSONAL DEVELOPMENTSVMA hosted four professional development seminars for manufacturers focused on OSHA Compliance, Air Leak Detection to Improve Manufacturing Efficiency, and Workforce Development.SVMA hosted tours of ten different regional manufacturers in 2025.SVMA partnered with the Sacramento Chapter of Women in Manufacturing (WIM) in September 2025 for a tour of Siemens Mobility.
