“The form 990 is prepared by outside accountants in conjunction with the corporation's third-party management team and counsel. The form 990 is reviewed by the corporation's officers and directors prior to filing with the internal revenue service.”

“The board of directors requires full disclosure of all actual and potential conflicts of interest. Each director shall disclose any and all facts that may be construed as a conflict of interest, both through an annual disclosure process and whenever such actual or potential conflict occurs. The board of directors will determine whether or not a conflict of interest exists, and whether or not such conflict materially and adversely affects the interests of the organization. A director whose potential conflict is under review may not debate, vote, or otherwise participate in such determination. If the board of director determines that an actual or potential conflict of interest does exist, the board shall also determine an appropriate remedy.”

“Educate members of the public: the organization educated the public through media outreach on the issue of ensuring equitable access to safe and affordable food nationwide. The organization also conducted outreach in the restaurant and retail industries to educate those industries on the impact of proposed and enacted legislation on the supply chain. In addition, the organization provided education and training to groups and individuals sharing in a goal of affordable food for all americans. The education and training was designed to prepare those groups and individuals to present to the public through media interviews and public meetings on the importance of affordable food for all and how this goal may be achieved. Organizations and individual companies in multiple states were trained, including chambers of commerce, coalitions, associations, and individual companies that sell directly to consumers. Outreach sessions were conducted monthly throughout the year. The number of persons benefited by these efforts is hard to quantify, but we believe millions of americans are at risk for increased cost and decreased food availability if our advocacy and outreach efforts do not succeed.”
