The purpose of the trauma resilience understanding & education (true) center, inc. (true center) is to increase access to trauma-focused, evidence-based care and prevention services for d.c.-area children and families. Our approach includes culturally competent mental health services, training and support for child-serving systems, and promoting public understanding of trauma and prevention. Our goal is a reduction and eventual elimination of preventable childhood traumas and increased resilience and access to care in the face of traumas that are accidental or unavoidable.

WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF TRAUMA-FOCUSED COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY TF-CBT MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIANS HELP CHILDREN AND FAMILIES DEVELOP POSITIVE COPING SKILLS PROCESS PAST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES AND BUILD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. A MENTAL HEALTH DIRECTOR WAS HIRED IN MARCH 2023 TO OVERSEE THE PROGRAM RECEIVE AND MANAGE REFERRALS AND SUPERVISE THE CLINICIANS PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES. 4 VOLUNTEER CLINICIANS ALL LICENSED PSYCHOLOGISTS WERE RECRUITED TO PROVIDE PRO BONO SERVICES TO CLIENTS.STARTING IN APRIL 2023 THE PROGRAM RECEIVED 12 REFERRALS FOR THERAPY: 2 CHILDREN RECEIVED A CLINICAL INTAKE FOR THERAPY SERVICES; 5 WERE REFERRED TO OTHER PROVIDERS BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS; OTHERS WERE LOST TO FOLLOW-UP PRIOR TO RECEIVING AN INTAKE. WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF TRAUMA-FOCUSED COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY TF-CBT MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIANS HELP CHILDREN AND FAMILIES DEVELOP POSITIVE COPING SKILLS PROCESS PAST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES AND BUILD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. A MENTAL HEALTH DIRECTOR WAS HIRED IN MARCH 2023 TO OVERSEE THE PROGRAM RECEIVE AND MANAGE REFERRALS AND SUPERVISE THE CLINICIANS PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES. 4 VOLUNTEER CLINICIANS ALL LICENSED PSYCHOLOGISTS WERE RECRUITED TO PROVIDE PRO BONO SERVICES TO CLIENTS.STARTING IN APRIL 2023 THE PROGRAM RECEIVED 12 REFERRALS FOR THERAPY: 2 CHILDREN RECEIVED A CLINICAL INTAKE FOR THERAPY SERVICES; 5 WERE REFERRED TO OTHER PROVIDERS BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS; OTHERS WERE LOST TO FOLLOW-UP PRIOR TO RECEIVING AN INTAKE. TRUE CENTER PROVIDED 1 LIVE VIRTUAL PROFESSIONAL TRAINING TO MEMBERS OF THE DC PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION. THIS TRAINING REACHED 21 PROFESSIONALS AND 94% OF SURVEY RESPONDENTS REPORTED AN INCREASE IN KNOWLEDGE SKILLS IN A POST-TRAINING SURVEY. TRUE CENTER RECEIVED A SMALL HONORARIUM FOR PROVIDING THIS PROFESSIONAL TRAINING.
