“The alliance is organized and shall be operated exclusively as a business league within the meaning of section 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code of 1986, as amended, to protect, promote, and improve business conditions for american blueberry growers as follows: (i) representing and advocating for the common interests of american blueberry growers to governments, including the united states congress, the president of the united states, federal departments and agencies, and the legislatures, governors, and department and agencies of the states, through both direct and indirect communications, with regard to the formulation, modification and adoption of legislation, executive orders, government regulations, rules and programs (including the administration or execution of government programs), and any other government policy, division, or position relating to the production, marketing, consumption or sale of blueberries; (ii) developing and announcing the consensus position of american blueberry growers in regard to legislation, executive orders, government regulations, rules, policies and programs (including the administration or execution of government programs), and any other government policy, decision, or position relating to the production, marketing, consumption or sale of blueberries; (iii) conducting research and preparing studies and reports relating to the production, marketing, consumption and sale of blueberries, and disseminating such information to government and the public; (iv) monitoring and informing american blueberry growers of recent and anticipated government policies and actions relating to the production, marketing, consumption and sale of blueberries; and (v) taking all other appropriate actions, consistent with exemption from federal taxation under section 501(c)(6) of the irc, to further the common business interests of american blueberry growers, and in so doing exercising all of the powers available to a nonprofit corporation organized under the district of columbia nonprofit corporation act.”
