Reach Out and Read Colorado is a Colorado non-profit corporation established to prepare Colorado's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together. “During fiscal year 2024-2025, the organization received approximately 49,000 hours from volunteers consisting of 2,070 healthcare providers and their trained clinical staff. Additional volunteers helped with events, readings, and book drives.”

“When children are read to aloud from birth, they are exposed to significantly more words in their early years, improving their vocabulary, comprehension and literacy skills and increasing overall brain development. The pediatricians and other clinical staff, as well as other volunteers that work with the books, represented more than 49,000 volunteer hours spent delivering this early literacy intervention in a professional healthcare setting to children and families from all 64 counties, many of whom face economic challenges or limited access to essential resources.”
