A major portion of the fvrc mission is to maintain and preserve the historic rome canaan school campus (buildings and grounds) located in stewart, ohio. General maintenance, and restoration are conducted throughtout the year. Committees are headed by fvrc board members and include volunteers some of which are former alumni of rome canaan school.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Fvrc has a continually active music program which caters to community members of all ages and experience. This is a free program that includes an extensive instrument lending library, private instruction, workshops, performances and well-equipped rehersal space. The music room is in the origianl 1897 two room schoolhouse which has been fully restored. The music program is financially supported by donations from community members, fund raisers, and grants. This includes the epstein teicher philantropies, located in new york, new york and the athens foundation locally located. Many fvrc members donate time and skills for this program. Both the music room and the auditorium are used frequently for band rehearsals and jams. Bi-weekly blue grass jams are a popular activity. Fvrc has a high-quality sound system that inhances performances and speakers.

Renovate, restore building and grounds of the historic rome canaan campus. This includes meeting area, community room (1897), music room (1897) auditiorium (1920), book room (1920), gymnasium(1940). The center hosted community dinners, music performances, historical programs, art exhibition. Offered free instruction in art, quilting and music. Performances and programs averaged 75 to 125 attendees. Meeting and activity space were provided free of charge for senior program and non- denominational yourh ministry. Fvrc began a food program that we plan to expand into a well-stocked pantry to provide/distribute food to community members in need. Multiple spaces at fvrc are available for private parties, reunions, weddings, ball practice, etc. To area individuals and groups for a low-cost fee. Proceeds are used to offset utility costs. Another source of income used for building repair and resoration is the thrift store located in our basement (former basketball court 1920 to 1940 and then cafeteria)and offers gently used clothing and home goods at low cost. Students from nearby federal hocking high school participate in helpful internships (requirement for graduation) and fvrc occasionally hosts community service workers.
