This organization receives contributions and grants to improve the health and educational resources available to african people.

- Medical Programs and Mobile Clinics-15,156 people served during 2011.TurtleWill has been running Medical Programs since 2002 in Mali, Niger and Ethiopia. We bring health care professionals, volunteers, and medicines and set up an "open air" bush clinic in remote areas. All treatment and medicines are free to the nomads. We purchase and deliver medicines for remote dispensaries in the bush that have none. We work with local Public Health departments to get nomad children vaccinated. TurtleWill has been funding corrective surgeries and medical care for tribal children in Southern Ethiopia since 1998. Since 2002 we have treated more than 100,000 patients in our mobile clinics.

- "Guardian Angel" Projects-4,000 people served for drought relief and 250 for handicapped assistance. 32 tons of millet distributed.In the bush, urgencies are directly visible or are presented to us first-hand. Part of the uniqueness of TurtleWill is our ability to respond spontaneously and resolve quickly. We call these "Guardian Angel" programs. Projects have included the purchase of food for a community of drought stricken nomads, over 60 wheelchairs for the handicapped in Niger and Mali; the urgent transfer and care of sick people to hospitals; partial funding of an ambulance from Europe for the Dogon of Mali.

Years of drought cause great loss. TurtleWill works with the Tuareg and Wodaabe nomads of Niger and Mali to help restore their herds. We provide animals, fodder banks and vaccination compaigns. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: "Guardian Angel" Projects-4,000 people served for drought relief and 250 for handicapped assistance. 32 tons of millet distributed.In the bush, urgencies are directly visible or are presented to us first-hand. Part of the uniqueness of TurtleWill is our ability to respond spontaneously and resolve quickly. We call these "Guardian Angel" programs. Projects have included the purchase of food for a community of drought stricken nomads, over 60 wheelchairs for the handicapped in Niger and Mali; the urgent transfer and care of sick people to hospitals; partial funding of an ambulance from Europe for the Dogon of Mali. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Community Projects-2 communities in Mali served.Some of the nomadic refugee Tuareg of Mali have now taken up rice cultivation along the banks of the Niger River and building vegetable gardens. We help them with their farming needs including irrigation pumps, fertilizers and gardening needs. |
