“in grant funding and $37k in in-kind services from a federal agency. The”
“amounts budgeted for 2025 are similar, however now most if not all of this”
“funding is potentially at risk. GCY anticipates similar volatility in the”
“in-kind services received from various Native Tribes, as their federal”
“funding is not secure. GCY continues to work diligently with its partners &”
“collaborators to mitigate the potential effects. GCY is confident that it”
“has sufficient cash reserves for 2025, however the organization will”
“continue to analyze & re-evaluate if some programs may need to be”
“discontinued in future years, if replacement sources are needed & not”
“secured.”
“The organization paid a commercial outfitter $23,500 for outfitting”
“services on a Grand Canyon expedition; the CFO of the outfitter is the”
“spouse of GCY's Executive Director; management & the Board of Directors”
“believes this transaction is at or below market value; the outfitter”
“additionally has donated cash and other in-kind services and equipment”
“to GCY.”
“Permanently restricted endowment fund The organization began this fund in 2013. Currently, investment income generated by the fund is re-invested back into the investment account, and accounted for as quasi- or board designated funds. Endowment funds are held by the Arizona Community Foundation, an unrelated organization that manages & invests the funds (see further discussion in the 2024 Independent Auditors Report Notes to the Financial Statements). Note that the portion of the endowment fund classified as board designated ($25,194 at 12/31/2024) is currently treated by the organization as permanently restricted funds, though it is classified in the audited financial statements as unrestricted.”
