“Azsa has four classes of members: 1) owner/operator members. This class includes any person (individual or business) that engages directly in the operation of a self-service storage facility within the state of arizona or owns, directly or indirectly an interest in a self-service storage facility withing the state of arizona which is actively and legitimately engaged in the business of self-service storage; 2) associate members. This class includes any person (individual or business) that does not qualify as an owner/operator member but who is in a business which directly serves the self-service storage industry; 3) small facilities members. This class includes person or business that directly operates a single self-service storage facility within the state of arizona and/or owns, directly or indirectly, an interest in a single self-service storage facility within the state of arizona, which facility, in either case, contains less than 100 unites and less than 10,000 square feet of rentable space and which is actively and legitimately engaged in the business of self-storage service. The class also includes any person (individual or business) not directly or indirectly engaged in the operation of a self-storage facility within the state of arizona but is a prospective owner/operating actively engaged in investigating the development or acquisition of a self-storage facility in arizona; and 4) affiliate members. Any person (individual or business) not in a business directly serving the self-service storage industry, or any other association with which reciprocal memberships serve the interests of azsa. Affiliate members are non-voting members.”

“Other than exofficio members of the board, owner/operator members, associate members and small facilities members, each having one vote, elect the board of directors. The board president, immediate past president, the vice-president, the secretary and the treasurer all serve as voting exofficio members of the board. The board president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer are elected by the board. The immediate past president is the person who, immediately preceding the current president, served as president of the board. If there are more than one vice-president, only the vice-president chosen by the board will fill the single vice-president exofficio position on the board.”

“The bylaws may be amended or repealed by a two-thirds majority approval of all voting members. Changes in dues must be approved by a vote of the members if 10% of the members object to the change approved by the board. Upon a two-thirds vote of the voting members, the members may change the number of the directors.”

“A draft return is prepared by our accountants from financial details provided by azsa. The draft is reviewed by the azsa treasurer and executive director. Questions are addressed and corrections are made prior to the return being signed by the treasurer. Prior to filing the return, an electronic copy of the complete return is made available to every member of the board in the same manner the board is provided information for board meetings.”

“The organization intends to monitor and enforce compliance by reviewing activities and discussing the subject at each board meeting. This practice is still under development.”

“The entire board discusses the executive director's (ed) compensation and performance and votes on any increase in compensation without the ed present. The discussion and decision is documented in meeting minutes.”

“Azsa makes its governing documents and financial statements available upon request.”
