“Any person, association, corporation, partnership, or estate having an interest in the purpose and objectives of the organization shall be eligible for membership. Application for membership shall be in writing on forms provided for that purpose and signed by the applicant. Any applicant shall become a member upon payment of the regularly scheduled investment as provided in section 3 of article ii of the bylaws. In any proceeding in which member voting is called for, each eligible member in good standing shall be entitled to cast one vote.”

“The board of directors shall approve a nominating committee, which shall present to the chair & board of directors a slate of candidates to replace the directors whose terms are expiring. Each candidate must be an active member in good standing & must have agreed to accept the responsibility of a directorship. The chair will notify the general membership of the names of the persons nominated as candidates and of the right of petition. Additional candidates may be nominated by the general membership by filing nominations signed by at least 10% of the members in good standing no later than 10 days prior to the board meeting.”

“The form 990 is reviewed by board members during the meeting and approved before signature by the chairperson.”

“The chamber has a conflict of interest policy form that officers and directors are required to review and sign.”

“Compensation of the executive director is discussed annually during a board meeting, and voted on and approved by all board members.”

“The chamber of commerce hosts various events throughout the year which showcase the businesses of the town of florence and the surrounding area, provide motivation for visitors to patronize local businesses, & provide support and networking opportunities for chamber members:1. Networking events for chamber members.2. A state of the the town and county breakfast meeting which is open to the community at large as well as members.3. A series of educational speaking events at mcfarland state historic park, which draw visitors to florence.4. Various free music festivals and events to draw visitors to florence.5. A twice-monthly farmers market, serving local residents as well as winter visitors, and providing local suppliers and artisans an outlet to sell their goods.”
