Additionally, as the recreational river running stakeholder for the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program, GCRG has been intimately involved with the LTEMP EIS from the draft through the final plan. The Record of Decision for the LTEMP EIS was signed in Dec 2016, defining how Glen Canyon Dam will be operated how the river corridor through Grand Canyon will be taken care of for the next 15-20 years. Stemming from our belief that the fragile, non-renewable cultural resources traditional cultural properties along the river corridor must be protected preserved over the long term, GCRG became a concurring party to the Cultural Programmatic Agreement PA for the LTEMP. “GENERAL NOTE The organization has only one permanent, part-time staff member, the Executive Director, who generally works 30 hours/week. As is common with many smaller nonprofit organizations, the Executive Director fills many roles, including membership management and development, program and office adminstration, bookkeeping, etc. GCRG relies heavily on its members and volunteers to manage its programs and achieve its mission. For example, its keynote publication, the Boatmans Quarterly Review and its Adopt-a-Beach research program would not exist without the significant contribution of dozens of volunteers. The value of such services and contributions is not reflected in the financial statements.”
“The CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY is provided to all GCRG directors and officers each year. They are asked to review the policy and complete the form disclosing any potential conflicts. The completed and signed forms are kept on file at the GCRG office. Also, as any potential conflicts arise throughout the year, they are addressed at regularly scheduled board meetings. Directors or officers with conflicts or potential conflicts are excused from discussions and from voting on related issues in accordance with the Conflict of Interest Policy guidelines.”
“The FORM 990 and related schedules are prepared by an outside accountant and are reviewed in detail by the Executive Director and the Treasurer. After the Form 990 draft is completed, it is forwarded to the President, Vice President and entire Board of Directors for review, questions and comments before it is finalized and filed.”
“The Board of Directors reviews and approves COMPENSATION for the Executive Director the only permanent employee on an annual basis, after first comparing salaries and compensation packages with similar positions at other local nonprofit organizations of a similar size. The Executive Director who in FY 2018 celebrated her 23rd year with the organization was paid 43,249 during calendar year 2017. Note Board members/officers are not compensated for this service to the organization. There were no qualifying key employees in FY 2018 or any other year.”
“PUBLIC DISCLOSURE - The organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements available to the public upon request. The annual Form 990 is also available online at www.guidestar.org and by request. A summary of the financial statements is published annually in an issue of the Boatmans Quarterly Review.”

Also, the Vice President and four other directors were river guide employees of other commerical river outfitters. Note each year, the Vice President/President Elect, and three new directors are voted into office by the guide members of GCRG in an anonymous mail-in ballot see more below.”
“BOARD OF DIRECTORS - The guide members of the organization river guides who pay annual dues to the organization determine by an anonymous mail-in vote annually who will serve on the Board of Directors and in the position of officers. Board members serve a volunteer two-year term. The Vice President serves a one-year term, then becomes the President for a one-year term. The Secretary/Treasurer has no set term limit. Guide members, in addition to voting for the governing body members, can also vote to remove a director at any time with or without cause.”

The balance in this account at 6/30/18 was 50,065. Investment income for FY 2018 includes 6924 of unrealized gains.”
“- PROFESSIONAL FEES OTHER PAYMENTS FOR INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS This represents professional design/scientific analysis/educational/editing services related to the Boatmans Quarterly Review publication, Adopt-a-Beach monitoring program, AMWG LTEMP meetings, first aid courses, oral history interviews and transcription services, and accounting/tax services. “COLORADO RIVER MANAGEMENT PLAN expenses 1590 - Since the Record of Decision was signed in 2006, the revised Colorado River Management Plan CRMP continues to be the multi-faceted visitor use management plan that specifies actions to conserve park resources, protect the visitor experience, and enhance recreational opportunities. In FY 2018, GCRG collaborated with the Grand Canyon Private Boaters Association to revise/update our jointly produced River Courtesy flyer initially developed during the CRMP planning process. The River Courtesy flyer is an educational tool designed to promote positive interactions between all river users in order to preserve the integrity of the river experience by emphasizing respect, environmental ethics, communication, flexibility, on-the-water safety, campsite planning and other helpful suggestions. Additionally in FY 2018, efforts by the Hualapai Tribe to charge fees for camping on Grand Canyon beaches adjacent to Hualapai lands prompted internal discussion and outreach to other river stakeholders, all of whom are invested in the continued success of, and adherence to, the CRMP. Based on those discussions and our own research, GCRG drafted a detailed letter to the Superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park expressing our strong support for retaining the definition and understanding of the boundary between the park and the Hualapai Tribe as laid out in the CRMP. Providing our insights and expertise based on our institutional knowledge of the river corridor and the complexities of the CRMP is an important way in which we can support Grand Canyon National Park.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 36 | COLORADO RIVER MANAGEMENT PLAN expenses 1590 - Since the Record of Decision was signed in 2006, the revised Colorado River Management Plan CRMP continues to be the multi-faceted visitor use management plan that specifies actions to conserve park resources, protect the visitor experience, and enhance recreational opportunities. Providing our insights and expertise based on our institutional knowledge of the river corridor and the complexities of the CRMP is an important way in which we can support Grand Canyon National Park. |
