Tucson Metropolitan Community Chorus

“Our mission is to foster community through song. We typically accomplish this through several concerts and outreach events throughout the year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic starting part way through our fiscal year we were only able to accomplish one major event this year, and our outreach events were also cancelled. This year our Holiday event was a series of 2 shows in which we sang to over 600 people.Our Spring event would normally be a series of 2 or 3 shows in which we would reach at least 500 700 people. This event was cancelled due to the pandemic. During our Spectrum show we would bring together three choruses from the Phoenix metro area as well as another Tucson chorus who all helped us foster community through song. All our communities would benefit from this event. We would perform for over 400 people at the Spectrum concert. Unfortunately, this event was also cancelled due to the pandemic.We were due to perform at the GALA Choruses Festival. This is a festival that is held every four years in which choruses from all over the world come together to perform for each other and the community. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic this event was also postponed. Hopefully, we will be able to attend this event at a future date to be determined.We are always looking for other ways to reach out to our community. This year we were able to perform at Aids walk where we sang to several thousand people. Several other events we typically perform in were cancelled due to the pandemic. During the pandemic we have been utilizing social media to reach out to people. We have a facebook page, Instagram, and twitter. We have put together a virtual choir to reach as many people as possible to spread our mission. We have also put out many posts to encourage voting.To sum up we have been fostering community through song and helping to promote a non-violent inclusive and positive atmosphere for diversity at each of our events and through all our interactions within the community.”
