“The organization has the following membership categories regular - regular membership is limited to fire districts duly organized and/or forming pursuant to the arizona revised statutes. Fire district members are eligible to vote on association matters if current in all association financial obligations. Associate - associate memberships are open to individuals, firms, corporations, associations, educational institutions, or government entities that have an interest in fire prevention, fire suppression, and rescue services. Fire districts who qualify for regular membership may not be associate members. Associate members are not eligible to vote on association matters. Corporate - corporate memberships are open to any firm, manufacturer, corporation or agency representing, producing or marketing products or services used by, or supporting, emergency service functions or activities. Corporate members are not eligible to vote on association matters. Honorary life - honorary life memberships may be conferred upon any person who has rendered exemplary service to the arizona fire district association, its aims and purposes. Honorary life members are entitled to participate fully in the affairs of the association with the exception of holding elective office, serving on the board of directors, or exercising voting privileges. Honorary life members must be nominated by a regular member of the association and be unanimously approved by the board of directors at any duly noticed board meeting. Honorary life members do not pay annual dues.”

“The act of amending the organizations bylaws requires approval from the membership body of board of members and regular members.”

“The administrator of the organization distributes a pdf copy of the 990 return to all board members for review and comment prior to being filed.”

“At each board and committee meeting, if there is a discussion of selecting or engaging a vendor or service provider, all in attendance are asked to recuse themselves from this discussion if there could be a perceived conflict. Annually, the organization reviews and discusses the conflict of interest policy and requests that each board member list and acknowledge any known conflicts.”

“The executive commitee reviews the compensation for all officers and key employees by comparing their compensation to the compensation of individuals in like positions in comparable organizations using forms 990, compensation studies, and other available data. The committee then approves any changes in compensation based on this information.”

“The organization will provide, in a timely manner, copies of all governing documents, including its conflict of interest policy, and financial statements when requested in writing or in person.”
