Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8B

There are no committees with the authority to act on behalf of the governing body.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The form 990 is prepared by an outside accounting firm and reviewed by tasc's ceo and cfo and then provided to the entire board for review prior to filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

All officers, directors and key employees are required to read the conflict of interest policy annually and to sign a statement acknowledging they understand the policy and must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. All of the board members review these statements and if there are any potential conflicts, the board members review to determine if such a conflict exists, and what measures should be taken. If it is determined that a conflict exists, then the member with the conflict shall leave the meeting during the discussion of and the vote on the transaction or arrangement involving the possible conflict of interest.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

Compensation for the officers and key employees of the organization is determined by the board of directors on an annual basis. In determining said compensation a review is conducted of the ceo's overall performance throughout the year, including management of the overall organization, achieving its tax exempt purposes and maintain fiscal responsibility. In fiscal year 2016, tasc retained services for a compensation analysis for the ceo. Due to cost, it was decided that it would be done just for the ceo. In fiscal year 2017, there were no increases to compensation and therefore no analysis was performed.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Governing documents, policies and financial statements are available upon request at the main office of the organization.

AS A RESULT, PARENTS NEED RESEARCH-BASED EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE ON HOW TO RAISE DRUG-FREE KIDS. YOUTH NEED ADDITIONAL EDUCATION ABOUT THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SUBSTANCE USE WITH THE GOAL THEY WILL BE INFLUENCED NOT TO USE. IN ARIZONA, 13 YEARS OLD IS THE AVERAGE AGE OF FIRST TIME DRUG USE (SOURCE: ARIZONA YOUTH SURVEY). 90% OF ADULTS SUFFERING FROM ADDICTION DEVELOPED THE PROBLEM BETWEEN THE AGES OF 12 TO 20 YEARS OLD (SOURCE: TREATMENT RESEARCH INSTITUTE) UNDERSCORING THE NEED TO REACH THIS POPULATION.
